Last night I painted my stock swirlies bronze and left the polished lip. Take a look. I'd like to hear your feedback.

Bad place to take a picture. You're getting reflection off the grass, either that or your "plished lip" is really green LOL.

either way, not bad, but I would have gone with black or gunmetal on a black car.

good job on the paint. Not my style (woulda went with black or kept them silver), but looks good :)

bronze rims on black cars looks awesome, too bad they are the swirlies, one of my least favorite rims EVER, haha, but looks way better bronze then silver.

I agree the pictures arent the best. I was going to was and wax it and take it somewhere good for pics, but it was supposed to rain all day.

I went with the bronze because too many people have black and gunmetal, and i dont have money for a set of aftermarket rims. I was actually hoping the paint would have more of a gold or yellowish tint (almost like the gold WRX rims), but for $20 in stripper, paint and clear... im not complaining. Now i just need to lower it and tint the windows.

While a definate improvement over the stock color I think they are a little too gold instead of bronze. :thumb:

Oh... I think they look nice. I was never a fan of chrome or silver rims, always liked the other colours better.
What things did you use to paint them? I'm thinking about painting my rims too and if something works, it's better than taking a risk with a random brand.

I agree, they're still a huge improvement over the stock colored swirlies however

Ditto. In the first pic they look awesome but look way too gold for my taste in the closeup. I prefer the really dark bronze color, like the Sports Bronze on the Slipstreams. Looks like a good paint job though.

I went to auto-zone and picked up a spray can of Aircraft Remover (its a metal stripper), 2 cans of Dupli-Color wheel paint, and some Dupli-Color wheel clearcoat. I sprayed the wheels with the aircraft remover, let them sit for about 5-10 minutes (you can tell the stripper is working because it will bubble up and change colors). I rubbed off the finish using some steel wool, then sprayed them off with a hose. After spraying the stripper off the wheels will be a dull raw metal color. I masked off the lip and the tire with tape and newspaper, and sprayed about 5 coats of paint and 3 coats of clear on each wheel. I'd say it took about 1-2 hours from wheel removal to re-installation.

The bronze looks preety good, personally I would of done the rims black, black rims-black car looks badass.

Looks good...But go to a local tire shop ask them to rebalnce your wheels with the weights on the Inside lip only...it's called a static balance. It gives a much cleaner look
