new upper i/c pipe and bov=turkey gobble sound

I have a 2g tsi. I just put a new upper intercooler pipe on with a 1g crushed bov. When i drive and only rev up to about 4000 or lower rpm and let down the pedal i get a turkey gobble sound from i think somewhere else other that bov, then i get a little bov realease sound. It almost sounds like it leaks from the turbo. But when i floor it and rev about 4500 or above and let pedal immediately go i get a nice clean bov release sound. Out of curiosity I swapped back to the original pipe and bov to see what it sounded like and i got a clean bov release sound like i always had originally. I switched back to the new pipe and bov and got same noise at lower rpms. Also it seems like the bov release sound is delayed after the gobble noise. What a headache, please someone help.

Please tell me you have some way to record that sound and share it with everyone.

On a more serious note, how does your boost gauge act? Are you getting funny readings?

You're also changing too many variables at once so it'll be harder to trace that noise. Do you have a non-crushed 1g bov around you can hook up to see if that is the issue? I'd certainly give that a try.

Have you done a pressure test with the new intake parts? You might be leaking around the hose clamps and getting that noise. It would explain the change in tone with reattachment.

It's probably compressor surge since its a crushed 1g bov. Air returning to the turbo, rather then getting released throught the BOV

I get the same noise....didn't happen until I upgraded my intake. Do you have an open-air intake setup? Your profile is empty. Oh, forgot to mention, when a spring doesn't have decent travel (too tight) it can cause that factor as well. I see you have a 1G crushed BOV right? I haven't used one but I don't believe they have an adjustment screw. Either way, I wouldn't worry if everything is running OK.

I have an aftermarket intake if thats what you mean.

Your BOV spring is set-up too tight. My Greddy-S does the same thing if I wind the adjustment nut too tight. Im recirculating, BTW.

i had the exact same thing happen i did a boost leak test and it was a vacume hose from my mbc that was halfway sticking off

I noticed when i put my car in park and rev it no matter low or high rpms, the only sound is clean bov venting. So that makes the matter a little more confusing.

^^ Don't sit there and try to build up enough pressure to make a clean blow-off sound, it's a lot of revving, isn't it? Install a stock intake (I'm 99% sure you wont hear it after). Your BOV and engine will sound much different at a still idle vs. being under load. Loosen the spring on your bov (if you even can-i doubt it, maybe it was crushed too much). Either way-don't worry about it if your car is running fine...mine will do it too whenever I "feather" the pedal under boost.
