OK i have a 1999 gs eclipse about 85k miles on it im running a aem cold air intake down pipe, new throttle body and ngk plug wires and sparks plugs i will soon add

Headers
Catback exhaust
Under drive pulley
and performance chip

if i calculated this correct it should land me in the 205-210 horsepower range
my question now is will all that done is their anything i should do engine wise to not have so much strain thats gonna be put on it will this extra 70hp

With your set-up I wouldnt really expect anymore than 20+ WHP gain with all that stuff. Just because its advertise as it will add 20hp dosent mean its going to. You'll be more in the 150-160 hp range and probally around 125-130 whp.

I am not sure if those mods will really give you 70hp, but with those mods the internals should be fine. There are people running the Hahn racecraft turbo systems on stock internals running 8psi with around 250 hp so I do not think you have anything to worry about.

i am not sure about 210 hp you will probably still be under 200 hp, but i guess if you tune it right u might get (maybe) around 200 hp. and engine wise....there will be no strain on it at all. if you use some kind of forced induction then you straining your engine.

guess my next question is so is there anything i can do without slapping a turbo to gain more horsepower is that about what it comes down too?

you could throw on an safc and have it tuned either on a dyno or with a wideband.
Its good for probobly some extra horsepower.

However throwing mods on an n/a really is a waste of money in my opinion unless your car is as light as a honda or something where 200+ hp will get you in the 12's

well i just want my car to just have the max hp i can get out of it without slapping a turbo cause its gonna be totally show until i start my project car just wanna have to funn with it....where could i get a decent performance chip? or a really good one?

Ok, here is the deal with the 420a.

1)The 200 whp N/A barrier was just broken about 2 weeks ago. To give you an idea it has taken 9 years minimum for it to be broken so bolt ons are not going to have you any where near that. Bullet has MANY hours and A LOT of $$$ into his car and most of his stuff is custom made and expensive. If your goal is 200 N/A whp talk to him.

2) The SAFC is worthless on this car so don't bother with it.

3) A 75 wet shot of nitrous will be just fine on your car assuming you run a compression test on it and come back clean. That is probably the fastest way to add power to your car.

4) They don't make a performance chip for this car. I believe it was the 97 ECU that has been reprogrammed slightly, but it is expensive and really not worth it at all. It removes the speed limiter and changes the rev limiter I think.

5) Header (we have one) + under drive pulley + cat back will not really net you a lot of power, but you will notice a snappier response. Its really hard to say gains because so much effects that. Odds are you'll be somewhere around 120-130 whp and that could be a generous estimate. No way to tell without dyno.

Hope some of this clears everything up for you. This motor is entirely different from the 4g63. In order to make high hp numbers you are going to have to go with a forged motor. We also don't have the easy tuning like the 4g63. No DSMLink here, your best tuning device will be a wideband + Megasquirt.

It sounds like you aren't doing a full build or anything though, so I would just buy a nitrous wet kit and use either the 50 or 75 shot. If your motor is in good condition it will hold a 75 just fine. I haven't added any power to this car because it is a DD, and I don't know if the stock clutch can handle a 75 shot all the way so you may need to upgrade there. Someone else with N/T experience can chime in on that issue. Remember that this motor can make plenty of power forged and boosted, but the stock motor is just not made to make the big numbers. A 75 shot will make it a lot more fun to drive though.

Good Luck

thanks for everyones input on my car...i am putting nitrous in the car but its for purge only its mostly a show car just wanted a lil more power to it

ill being doing alot of the lil stuff i guess when everything arrives i will post exactly the difference i notice

thanks again

A port and polish on your head will drastically improve your throttle response and give you a good extra kick in the high rpms.

Ok your headed in the right direction but those mods will def not put you in the 200hp range. First of all what size tb did you upgrade to? Secondly, to reach that you will need atleast around a 60mm tb, a custom or bored intake manifold, cam gears, underdrive pulley, full exhaust (headers to tip), and possibly some internal work. There is a lot of time and money to do all that for all motor performance. I would agree with getting either nitrous or prefferably a turbo kit to run no more that 8psi. Nitrous will be a lot cheaper even with a purge kit but a turbo kit can always be upgraded later.

99RedGS is absolutely correct. :thumb:

All the little NA bolt-ons do make a noticeable difference, but don't expect anything major..
