Hi guys I would like to start by saying my automotive knowledge is in carburated engines and stops there, but my wife has shown me the joys of owning an import. While I was cleaning my throttle body I noticed alot of oil in the piping for my cold air intake. I realized it was coming from a hose connected between the pipe and the valve cover so I disconnected the hose and blocked it off, probably a bad idea but oh well. I later noticed a tremendous vacuum on the oil cap while running however it seemed as if the car had a new lease on life, it was more peppy and the exhaust even exited with more force. I still have the pcv attached, hence the vacuum, will this hurt my engine? What if I opened the hose and added a small breather? I'm lost here need some advice, I like the small but noticeable power increase but don't want to harm the engine

Yeah I knew I shouldn't leave it like that but that little boost was nice. Can I do the same with the pcv? On my big block I just used a mini breather but that's apples and oranges. I'm sure if the hose producing vacuum is leaving blow by the pcv valve is as well

Thanks for the info, it's a little easier to understand another dsmer than a website. I got into a car accident in 2008 because I was hotrodding around town and got brain damage from flipping the truck, so the technical explanations take a while to sink in now LOL.
