just posting my first post ever on this forum. I have recently got a eclipse 1g gst. i dont plan on doing any mods to it i just want it to run perfect, I live in jacksonville florida if there is any locals on here wanna shout out. I was happy with the amount of power it puts out. it came with a nice muffler and nice rims. I bought a used(like new he says) BOV recently to replace to old leaking one and the one i bought also leaks but not as bad. couple questions for you guys really quick.

1 what kind of gas mileage do you get?

2 what is you opinion on swapping from 2wd to 4wd?

3 can you bolt on a turbo to a non-turbo 2.0?

I also have a s10 which i plan on putting a turbo on. it looks like you have to work your way up in this forum. kinda sux but i do see where they are coming from. many forums dont have this rule which it can get out of control. thats my intro let me know if I post something wrong. and I hope to have some good convos in the future

Welcome to the party pal

1 Depends on engine/ car condition/ mileage/ignition system driving conditions, revs etc.. and so on
everycar is diffrent but if you took a 1g turbo fwd pole running 93 octane- somewhere around 25

2 costly, even if you have a donner car its a pain in the butt

3 possible with enough work, but in the end will cost you more money and time than its worth

how is florida this time of year sir>??

1) with stock car about 25
2)not worth it, if you want all wheel drive, sell it and buy a gsx
3) plan on robbing lots of things off a turbo 2.0 or all aftermarket which is not cheap

welcome to the dsm community, these cars are fun if you can keep up with the upkeep, also what kind of bov did you buy that is still leaking?

For the $$$ you'd spend doing the N/A to Turbo conversion, you could buy a Turbo'd model... Go that way n' upgrade from there.

Take a look at the FWD -> AWD conversion. There's a *lot* of parts involved (better have an AWD parts car ready, or at least the rear clip), and welding, lots of wrench time, all to get something that will only cost you a grand or 2 more when you first buy the car.

Same with the turbo-conversion... you ask if you can "bolt-on" a turbo, which could mean engine-swap (lots of time and parts), or it could mean a turbo-conversion (non-turbo to turbo). The turbo conversion is more involved than you might think. Enough people do the turbo conversion that it may be viable for you, but only if you enjoy a challenge. Most FAQ's and advice say that if you want a turbo dsm, buy a turbo dsm.

Something to keep in mind; a turbo conversion will need more than just the turbo itself. Manifold, downpipe, injectors, tuning/logging device, intercooler, bov, etc etc. If you want to, you can do it. But why?
