I wasn't sure where to put this but I'm trying to pull up my logs on my desktop but can't figure out how to do this? I downloaded MMCD tools but can't seem to find any of my logs or even get them from my palm to my pc. Does anybody know how to do this?

If you have MMCD Tools all you should need to do is connect your Palm to your computer & run a hot sync operation. The files will be downloaded during the hot sync. My MMCD folder is in the My Documents folder & that's where the downloaded files go. Each log will be in 3 versions - an MS Excel file .xls, a Palm Desktop file, & a .csv file. Depending what apps you have on your pc you can open 1 of those to view your log.

Ok I found the folder but it will not let me view any of the files. I installed MS excel but I only get 2 files, a csv file, and a palm database file. No excel .xls files. Maybe I have the wrong Excel installed? It's MS Excel Viewer 2003. The CSV file opens in notepad and is just tons of unreadable data. The other file opens the install aplication for palm and wants to install the file on my palm.

I suspect your MS Excel Viewer 2003 is the problem. MMCD Tools uses OLE Automation (Object Linking & Embedding) to export the .xls files. You would need a full version of MS Excel to do this. The Viewer only allows you to open & print Excel workbooks. Without MS Excel on the PC when you hot sync you won't get a log in .xls format. The .csv files are also viewable in Excel & probably not in Excel Viewer. However, you can try by right-clicking on the .csv file & select "Open With" & try to open it in Excel Viewer. If this doesn't work, try searching for "CSV File Viewer" - I'm sure there is freeware out there that you can download to view these files.

Ok I found a csv file viewer and am able to read the data now but what is the mmcd tools for then? I can just view my logs through the csv file without even opening the tools. Are the tools only needed for .xls file or something?

i think the tools is what takes it from the palm and saves it as a xls or csv file instead of just a .pdb palm file.
