I've read one of the most enlightening articles, http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-engine-fuel/366890-4g63t-pcv-system.html#post152294004 and made up my mind that I've got some mod's to do to my set up.

I plan on running another catch can and going with the advanced setup. This car is going to be a weekend warrior only and will never be driven on the road again, so keep that in mind, when responding to the question about my setup choice.

I have no baffles in my VC, as the baffles had more than a couple of broken rivets anyway and rather than risk crap in my new engine after I blasted it, I just pulled the baffles out. Now I realize I'm going to get some extra blow-by due to this, but like I said, this isn't a DD any more.

So my question I have for those guys who've done the mod's to the PCV system and used the check valves inline with the PCV valve, did you use the Kynar, 3/8" Kynar® Standard Check Valves | U.S. Plastic Corp. valve listed in the article or something else.

I've found similar valves at autozone, Help/Universal One-Way Vacuum Check Valve (47149) | Check Valve. Universal Type | AutoZone.com and want to know if this is too small.

Any opinions welcome. Thanks for the input.

You're going to get more than a little "blow by" from a baffle-less valve cover. I would suggest you find a new one with the baffles intact, or fab up a new baffle system. They are vital, less you don't mind losing a quart of oil every mile.

The check valves really are not necessary. You CAN do a single can setup with both the "pcv" and "crankcase vent" going to the same can, just make sure that can has baffles in it, to separate the air/oil mixture while it's in transit back to your pre turbo intake pipe.

Using a vacuum PCV system is going to dirty up an aftermarket SMIM really quick, and you will not get even distribution of the remaining oil vapors into each combustion chamber unless you do some rather extreme fabrication which is really not worth it.

That one you posted from auto zone is WAY too small. There is another thread where a guy tried it and of course it won't work. The U.S. Plastic Corp one will hold up to 150 psi so whether it’s a street car or track car, it will hold whatever you throw at it.

That's what I thought. thanks for confirming and I actually went to Autozone today and saw the valve on the shelf and WTF it's smaller than it looks on the pic by a lot.

Not a problem :thumb:

It sucks having to pay $7 shipping for a $1 part but it's worth it. There aren't too many other quality fixes you can get for $8.

Very true. I'll be ordering it soon. Also looking at doing the 2 catch can setup and will buy 2, as the shipping will be the same. I hope;)

Can I ask what your thoughts were to use it on the Brake Booster line for??

There is a check valve on the brake booster line from the factory. I had gotten rid of my stock line along with the check valve several years ago and replaced it with silicone hose. So I just added one of the new check valves. Just like you don't want boost going into the valve cover and causing too much pressure (i.e. blowing out the dip stick) you don't want boost going into the brake booster either.

I forgot about that one, but was thinking that one was a lot bigger than the one's we've been talking about. That's why I wondered about your mod. I'll have to look into that mod a little later. But thanks for bringing it up..
