need help finishing up clear coat

I'm trying to finish up my paint job on my spoiler. I just finished wet sanding the clear coat so I buffed it with rubbing compound and then with Polish but the finish is still dull. Do I need to clean it back down and put more compound on it?

You should have 3 layers. Primer coat, base coat and clear coating. If you sanded off the clear coat your back down to your base coat. You have to redo base coat again and shoot it with clear coat then, buff if needed. Did you get a "matte" clear coating or "gloss" clear coating? They even make "high gloss" clear coatings.

what Grit did you wetsand with. what compound, and what polish.

Thanks guys. Yes I painted it right. I used two coats of primer three base and two clear. I wet sanded with soapy water with 1500 grit. The clear hazed over and it is smooth. I used meguiars compound and pre wax Polish. I don't have pics right now sorry but I polished it and everything and its still just hazy. I tried it on my hood where the clear coat is fading and on some spots it looks brand new and others it looks worse hazy wise. So if its still hazy should I just use it more? And how will I know if I burn to far?

Try using a microfiber cloth on it. Sometimes that will bring the shine out.

If its still foggy, you buffed too far

I have been using microfiber. On my hood though the haziness got worse the first time, but the second time looked brand new that's why I'm not sure when I have went to far.

How thick are you shooting the clear? You may have shot it while it was cold and wet outside which can cause foggy clear coat. Being in NC there is a ton of humidity. Did it turn out well in certain spots on the same part?
Did you shoot it with an inline water filter at the gun?
