As the title says, I need to change my cam angle sensor. I am lucky enough to have a 95 with inverted cas, so my sensor is behind the intake cam. My question is, how do I remove the cams without screwing up my timing?
From what I understand, you have to ziptie the belt to the cams and mark the cam passion. Is that correct? Does it mater if cyl #1 is at TDC?

Also, is there any trick to installing the new CAS?

Ziptie the cam sprockets as you stated. The motor should be at TDC with the cam gears lined up.

Open the valve cover. Use a 17mm wrench on the cam and a 17mm to loosen the camshaft bolt (its about 100 lb-ft of torque).

Use the tensioner tool to remove tension from the timing belt until there is enough slack in the belt to pull the sprocket back. Unbolt and remove the sprocket (TIGHYLY ziptied). Unbolt and replace the CAS.

Put everything back together. You'll be amazed how easy and quickly it goes. You'll probably be able to swap cams in less than an hour if you ever do this again.

Wait...

Are you sure you cant remove the CAS with the sprocket on? I remember it being fairly accessable.

I'm kind of a n00b, so please bear with me. When you say loosen the camshaft bolt, are you talking about the bolt on the center of the cam gear?

Yes, Im refering to the bolt that goes through the cam sprocket and threads into the camshaft; it is the only bolt holding the cam sprocket in place.

Thanks very much! Seams like it should be easy to do then.

One last thing. Do the cam gears have some sort of mark so you can tell when they are lined up?
That is a noob question... like you said , jk

Anyway, yes you have a 4 marks they all need to be inline check vfaq.com and section for t-belt swap.
