ok this was mounted under my steering wheel when i bought the car. trying to figure out if this is the standard obd1 connector or something else?

i don't think it's obd ii either though...has a strange red light on it.
 
ive never had experience with it but it could be setup for DSMlink. you can always pull your ECU and check
 
That is not the diagnostic link connector. It has nothing to do with dsmlink either. Dsmlink plugs into the stock diagnostic link connector.
 
ok thanks for the suggestions. maybe it does have to do with the alarm system.
 
its a security chip for a alarm. you plug in the chip to make your car start.

As stated above, it is a security chip for the ignition cut. When you take the chip out you shouldnt be able to start the car. And when you put the chip in you can start your car.
