N00b Help

Hey guys im new to the site and honestly i signed up cause most of you know your ish and i dont. i was gonna buy a foxbody mustang and ended up someonehow buying a fwd talon tsi(1991). Im getting a paintjob soon because it looks like crap right now so when i do that ill put up pictures. All i got is flowmasters. yep. completely bone stock other than that(car wasnt abused in any way. Basically virgin). So my question for you guys is, What would you recommend i do next? my budget isnt huge so dont tell me to swap it to awd or something crazy(i read a bunch of threads all telling this kid to ditch the fwd hahah) just a few mods to make my car go over the 190hp mark its at right now haha. Any bit of information will help. In case you are wondering what im trying to do is make my daily driver a little faster. I'm not trying to build up a track beast that runs 9's(i wish) just something that'll run nicely in the 12's because i know that way the car will continue being reliable.

p.s. why did i not buy a foxbody? because i wanted boost. .

As any good DSMer will know you should always have your maintenance done before starting with mods. And as far as the first mods it depends on how large your budget is. Personally I'd get a turbo back exhaust 255 fuel pump big injectors and a larger turbo like a 16g.

oh wow sweet thanks man everythings there haha. and yea i have already started a bit of a tune up for it since the things so old. Its got brand new CV axles, brakes, timing belt, water pump, wires and spark plugs. Its a start? My budget is more like constant not really all at once haha. I'll probably have around 300 a month left over to use on car plus the 800 i got saved right now.

exhaust set up from the turbo back, port your manifold, and o2 housing, hard inter cooler piping, front mount, manaul boost controller, 255 pump, injectors, a tune. But i WOULD check your timing belt first then your water pump. If these haven't been replace i would start there before modding anything, check your plugs and wires too.

thanks man. Question. Would you guys think its a better idea to run down that list from the link before getting the bigger turbo or could i just go straight to the turbo and add things from that list as i go.

haha thats crazy. i was abouttt to get a 93 fox. it was green. and it was automatic but my friend was hookin me up with a t-5 tranny. i didnt get the chance to own it, but do u regret it or think it was a good trade?

Did you do the timing belt? Or was done by the Previous Owner? If it was done by the previous owner do you have a reciept. If not do it. Its much much cheaper than getting head work done if you snap the belt.

Other than that, oil change I recommend Mobil 1 10w30. Spark plugs should NGK gapped to .027 IIRC. Do a boost leak test. You can make a tester or buy one.

Check turbo shaft play.

If all your stuff checks out start with the free mods on the upgrade path and work your way up.

they have a good upgrade path here for you to follow

just keep up on the maintance, DSM are not as forgiving as a foxbody is.

BTW you can have a fox body with boost..... I know I do!

haha yeaa but it costs so much more to turbo a foxbody then to buy an already turboed talon . mine was under a grand and works perfectly.

but yea i woulda loved a turbo fox
