Hey guy,I was thinking about freeing some extra HP from my 93 Eclipse.
What do you think about geting me aluminum flywheel and removing balance shaft? Is it worth all the work and money, and what kind of HP gain could I expect from both flywheel and balanse shaft ?
Thanks for comments in advance.

Nobody makes a lightweight flywheel for the non turbo 4G63's. The turbo FWD flywheels will not fit in your bellhousing. I wouldn't remove the balance shaft unless the motor is balanced, due to the vibration, but thats just my 2 cents. Mabye 5hp on a NT from the balance shaft elimination?

When I had my engine rebuilt, I initially removed the balancing shaft because I also heard the benefits of doing this. But the vibration of the entire car absolutely sucked!:thumbdown

I eventually put it back in, loss the vibration and could not really tell any loss in hp from having it back in. I personally don't think that it is worth it.

:talon: :shhh:

ok tx guys.I was more interesting in flywheel than balance shaft.
WTF I tought they make one for N/A 4g63
I think I have seen it at few websites.

I've searched high and low for one since i just ordered a ACT 2100, and have come up with nothing, I recall seeing one but for the 600 dollar price tag and a brand i've never heard of I don't think it's really worth it. You might be able to have a mchine shop lighten the stock one, but people seem to have reliability issues when that is done, like the flywheel shattering, so it's up to you, I would just put the money elsewhere..
