Got it today. Only paid $95 for it, plus shipping ($35 insured.)

3", stainless-steel. Mandrel bends, all that good stuff. Only thing I'm not happy with, is that for some reason it tapers back down to 2.5" at the end (not the O2 housing end. Look at the pics.) I can cut that off though.

Anyways, here's some pics. I'm happy with the quality of it.

Looks like a nice piece to me :thumb: I got one of them test pipe/high flow cats off ebay once and it came with them shitty gaskets, they arent worth a damn, I suggest getting new ones. Otherwise nice piece :)

I had that same downpipe on my gst. I also had the cat back by megan racing. It sounded better then my apexi n1 cat back in my opinion, and the muffler looked better too. My Apexi looks like a trash can hanging off the back of my car, it's going to be getting cut off soon.

I like every product i've ever purchased from megan racing.....good qaulity is my opinion.

Nice downpipe. No cat? I like Megan products, I had a Megan race cat for an Integ, and I had no leaks, or breaks anywhere on the welds. Good buy. :thumb:

They probably have it taper down to better match the stock cat. Like you said, just cut it off and you'll be good to go. :thumb:

That looks very high quality. Very neat and clean tig welds. And only $95?! Nice buy! Let us know how you like it after you put it on.

My friend bought a Megan Racing muffler for his car resently. I was really surprised with the quality of it. Welds where really nice too, all tig. Plus it sounds pretty nice, might have to get one for the DSM.

I'm very happy with my Megan Racing downpipe. Sure it necks down a bit on the catback side but I'm not gonna lose sleep over it. Megan Racing makes good shit. My only real problem was that it didn't exactly "Bolt up" with my Greddy EVO catback. Greddy unfortunately puts an adapter at the end of it to match up with a stock sized downpipe...so you have to create your own new adapter to make the downpipe and catback come together (I just ordered flanges from RRE and had a muffler shop weld them to a 3 inch pipe.)

I have other gaskets, so that's not a problem, and no, this car runs no cat......but that's because it's my, uh.....track car. :p

Yea, my friend also recently bought a Megan muffler, and after seeing the quality of that, I didn't think their other products could be horrible.

This thread was started mainly for the people who bash eBay downpipes, and to show that not everything bought cheap means cheap quality.

EDIT : I bought it from a company called "ebstores."

yeah I bought the "high flow cat" from megan racing...very high quality. it even bolted to the hagers like stock, if I had the oppuortunity to buy from them agina I would in a heartbeat. Great company great service!! :thumb:

All their stuff is pretty cheap but seems like it is good quality.Nice buy.
BTW, I think I saw your car in Penn Hills the other day, or another Tsi that looks just like it :D

A buddy of mine ordered that same one... he took it to an exhaust shop to get it put on, and it didnt fit..

Generally, how is the fitment / installation of that downpipe? I know al5dsm said his friend's didn't fit right, and my general experience with eBay stuff is that it doesn't fit very well.

i was going to get that downpipe for my car but my 3' catback reduces to 2.5' once it hits the cat. So my exhaust sytem would go 3'-2.5'-3' which would probably mess up performance and airflow, so for now i'm just looking for a straight 2.5'.

I installed it today, and I love it.

No major problems on the install. A few small things.

The holes on the gaskets they give you (for the O2 housing bolts) aren't close enough. No problem, a simple snip fixes that. (Yes, I used their gasket LOL.)

And the only other thing, is that you can't fit a socket around the bolts that thread onto the O2 housing studs. I guess this is because of the bigger pipe. Eh, no big deal, just get a 3/4" wrench up in there and go to town.

All in all, can't beat this thing, especially for the price.

Thanks for the review! I have had this DP sitting in my closet for months now, I will be installing it with the evoIII turbo pretty soon.. jfyi, I was going to cut off the reducer at the catback - and do the same on my catback and join them with a piece of 3" piping.

Yea, I, too, will be cutting off the reducer. I was just really anxious to get it on. I've been running the stock downpipe open, and it was just choking things badly up top. This made a world of improvement.

cool! One thing that was also suggested to me - is instead of welding the downpipe and catback togather with a 3" piece, use a 3" piece of piping and have a muffler shop expand the ends of the pipe to slip over the downpipe/catback and use exhaust clamps to hold them togather.

I know this is an old thread, but i'm thinking about getting the megan racing downpipe to bolt up to my 16g which has a 2.5inch inside diameter on the 02 sensor housing. Will this fit??? I've tried to find accurate specs on the dp, but neither ebay nor meganracing's webside lists accurate specs.

Oh and if anyone knows - i've noticed that people say to get the o2 eliminator - isn't that sensor necessary? I only ask because my 16g o2 sensor housing has different style plug than my jdm one so I don't want to have the swap the two sensors (heard it was a pita)

Thanks fellas :D
