I'm sure everyone would agree that the boost gauge is the most important aftermarket gauge to own. But what else?


*I listed as many as I could think of :)

*I also left out fuel because most of the time, you either really need it or you don't. No fuel pump or AFPR and no need for a gauge. Same thing for nitrous gauge, you either need or you don't.

Yeah when I'm running low on boost fluid my car is a DOG. I bought a case from Pep Boys the other day to make sure I don't run out. I need some new muffler bearings though.
 
thats a very hard ?, i think the next 3 most important guages is

egt- it is a must to know what your exhaust gas is. i dont think i need to explain y it is

fuel pressure- very import to make sure your fp psi is rising even with your boost psi.

oil pressure- to make sure your oil psi is good of course.


if i had to choose i would say egt, but i just went out and got all 3 :thumb:
 
I find my knock gauge very useful. It's not a gauge that you can go out and buy exactly - I've got one of those Keydiver eprom chips w/ a knock gauge. I've got an EGT gauge and I rarely look at it. It just doesn't give all that much information. Not on your list, but a wideband O2 beats the rest in usefulness. You can get one for a little more than $100 more than a Greddy EGT w/ memory.
 
After a boost gauge the next most importan thing is a way to keep track of timing or knock.

That could be a datalogger, or a timing gauge (TMO/Keydiver), or a knock gauge (Keydiver). EGT's gauges also kinda sorta do that, but yuck...

Then I'd say fuel pressure.

Then oil pressure and water temp.
 
You forgot the most important one the QUARTZ CLOCK, that way you can see how long your car sits in hours, :p On a serious note I got the boost, oil pressure and cylinder head temp. all at once, but I would have to say oil pressure.
 
the only problem i have with the factory oil pressure guage is that mine doesnt work at all

The amount of sweep determines the guage's acuracy. 270 being the most accurate. The factory guage doesn't even give you a measurement in a specific unit.

Oil pressure-most important in my opinion

boost guage-some are also good for measuring vaccum, load, and obviously boost.

Egt- Exhaust gas temperaure (not everyone turns up the boost and runs lean). More for people who are tuning, and I am aware that most people on this board are tuning and should use this guage as a meter.

All guages are important. :)
 
The A/F gauge OF COURSE. How else are you supposed to stay awake at night. And it makes a great conversation starter. Passenger: What the hell is that gauge with the light dancing around? You/Me: Worthless...

LOL, I can't believe 5 people actually picked it as the most important gauge. I bet they all have neon kits and that string light stuff all over :p
