MOPAR S9417= what manual trans fluid

I picked up royal purple but when I got home my haynes said use MOPAR S9417 or equal manual trans fluid

Tranny needed ATF + 4. If someone knows I can def use royal.purple ill swap on next flush

Why you use the ATF+4 is that Chrysler designed the tranny with felt lined syncros. ATF+4 has what's called an FM - "Friction Modifier"- that works with the lined syncros.

Other fluids don't have the modifer, thus the syncros can eventually self destruct.

..and the same with Chrysler and DSM Mitsu auto trannies: ATF+4 is also used. Don't use Dextron, or that stuff will destroy the friction discs in the tranny..

So using the ATF + 4 is better then running the ROYAL PURPLE 75W-90
