Does anybody know if the torque specs and sequence is the same when replacing the stock head gasket to mitsubishi's 4 layer metal head gasket? any experience and knowledge is extremely usefull. thanks

stock studs or arp studs? I would just follow stock specs for stock studs, arp spec for arp. I'm running arp and I went like an extra 7 ft lbs over their spec.

tq. sequence is the same..i did my arp's at about 85 ft/lbs with the moly lube...dont forget to coat the HG with copper spray

they are the stock studs. i really didnt think i would need use of ARP's im not going crazy with it. just like to put a better head gasket on. is it highly recommended for the copper spray? i have been suggested it once today so i pick some up.

whats the copper spray for????

and the arp specs for the 11mm vs the 12mm studs are different

i ran a hks metal head gasket and didnt use any spray on it, but it did have a black coating on it??

Hey man, as far as sequence its the same torque spec varies.....honestly on old stock head studs i wouldnt really go over the factory spec of 74ft lbs.....if they are new id go to 80-85ft lbs......arps i usually go between 90-100ft lbs with the moly lube........I did notice on a friends car he used a mitsu 4 layer with stoick studs and factory torques spec and it leaked.......I pefer the security of studs ive done at least 6 head gasket jobs with the mitsu 4 layer and the studs and haven't had a leak or complaint so.......id rather be safe than sorry :dsm:

i would really recommend putting ARP's in...even if you arent planning on going crazy its nice to know that you would be covered if you decided to uprgade more or an accident happened...its cheap insurance.

and yes, definitely use copper spray..it helps it seal better

The head will still float just the same, and blow the headgasket no matter how much it cost. Buy ARP's and keep the current HG if your worried.

Torque specs for a 2G arp are 65ft/lbs with ARP lube, 85ft/lbs with standard oil. I havn't really looked at the stock studs before because I never re-use them as your not supposed to.
