Well I am dead set on getting one of these intercoolers from a local performance shop. It seems relatively small, which isnt a big deal since my car is fairly low to the ground and I plan on keeping the crash beam and make custom brackets.

However after searching I cant really find many who have even installed them on a dsm. Or any other car honestly.

Ive actually read a few lines about them on a scion and honda forum.

So I was wondering how would one of these bad boys handle?
The plan is to eventually run a 16g w/ 18-20lbs of boost as a daily.

I was also curious if this would even be an upgrade from the stock intercooler.

Ofcourse others have recommended better intercoolers, but Im not trying to turn my car into a super car.
At the most Ill be trying to hit 350hp

Heres the specs
Construction: Bar/Plate
Overall Size: 28" x 7.5" x 2.5"
Core Size: 20.5" x 6.25" x 2.25"
Inlet/Outlet: 2.5"
Max. Recommended PSI: 22psi
Fin Pitch: 15 Fins/Inch
Tank Wall Thickness: 5mm
Six Threaded Universal Mounting Points

So any thoughts

It'll be plenty fine. Look at road-race engineering. Their small FMIC is what I ran with zero issues, and so did they.

People max out 16Gs with upgraded SMICs, or even the supra SMIC.
The bigger you go with a intercooler - the not necessarily better it is. You don't want a big pressure drop across it- and you don't want to increase turbo lag.

Keep your piping 2.5" for max velocity too. You could probably even use 2.25" for the ultimate 16G setup, but 2.5" won't hurt.

G'luck

I even took it a step further then RRE and went with the short route for my FMIC.

Nice thanks for all the informatio. After looking at this car Im actually pretty stumped.
It seems like Ill have to actually cut something. The intercooler's height is 7.5 inches.
Despite the relatively small size compared to most intercoolers, it seems as though this one may still not give me enough clearance. Then I still have to think about the piping. Vipre, Ill be going with a 2.5 as you suggested.
Would it be dumb to use a combination of both sized piping on opposite end tanks? Seems like the velocity would increase if I were to go from 2.5 to 2.25

Any suggestions on the route I should take for the piping?
seems like the 1g doesnt leave you with a whole lot of space to do much. Seems like the Power steeering cooling rack/(or AC condenser whatever it is)? might get in the way.
