metal scratching sound from front driverside brake...

i can hear metal scratching sound from front driverside brake or wheel
while im going in freeways (not step on brake just going in high speed...)
not everytime. when the front driverside wheel gets little impact by uneven road or
little bumps on the lane while lane change...
if i hit the brake little hard or slow down under 60MPH the noise disappears...
and while im step on brakes when im going reverse....
the sound is REALLY LOUD when im driving in freeways...
i can even hear all windows closed and music is on...
damn whats wrong??

Hmm..., I've heard squeaking, creeking, rattling, and thumping, but not scratching.

I have seen brake pads that have wore down to the metal base where the pad is bonded to it causing the pad to male a scratching sounds. Ruined the rotor and everything, but the brakes never felt "bad". I could actually see where the metal part of the pad appeared to have heated up so much it almost looked like the metal had melted and pushed back. Bad news.

Also, A lot of brake pads have a small metal tab riveted to the brake pad that sticks out at a certain height. This will rub the disc when the pad wears down enough when the brakes are not applied (and goes away when they are applied) and is supposed to alert the driver to the fact that the brake pads have reached the point that they need replaced. Have you pulled your wheel off to have a look? You'll probabaly want to do that ASAP and then report back with findings.

yeah you need to replace your brakes there most likely REALLY worn down. I did that yesterday I experiance the same noise but not as bad as your describing soon enough your brakes wont stop your car so go get it checked out.

also on some brake pads there is a little pad that is sticky on one side and you stick it to the back of the pad i think it is there to stop squeeks and stuff from the piston to the pad and i have had it where the glue of sticky stuff gets to hot and then that little pad slides down from brake pad and slides down on rotor or hub of the rotor the piece that comes out and then covers the wheel bearing and slides over wheel studs. but good luck.

I've seen small rocks get stuck or the thin metal guides bend and cause lots of noise but your pads are probally worn. If non of the above spray them down with brake cleaner, regrease the pins and put on some of that anti squeak stuff on the back of the pads where there is metal to metal contact.

Yeah it's probably your brake pads. Try that stuff that you put on your brake pads to eliminate squeaks. Or you might just find that you have to replace them in general.

I've had this problem before and it seriously warped my rotors. You need to get new brake pads as soon as possible. In fact, I did exactly what you did with the stomping of the brake really hard and I ended up wearing a little groove in my rotor. Just get them changed and quick and you should be just fine.

probably brake pads like everyone said but also check to make sure the dust/water shield isn't touching the rotor

i put WD40 to the back of the rotor where the sound coming from....
to the red circle...
the sound disappeared......
i could take the wheel out... nut are too tight for me to take it out by hand...
i should go to shop to whats wrong with it or something....

Why would you take it to a shop and pay $30 dollars just to have some guy in a blue mechanics shirt tell you the same thing we have? Just suck it up and do some manual labor. Go buy a repair guide, some brake pads, and get that wheel off there and do it yourself before you warp your rotors.

that thing you circled in red is what scratches your rotors when your pads are worn out, its a safety warning thing they put on it to tell you your pads are wearing down. So change them!

Check that the piece of metal the shields the rotor from road debris didn't get bent and is scratching your rotor. That would cause a loud noise, and has happen to me before.

as everyone else has mentioned, change your pads!! Metal to metal isnt cool, you will ruin your calipers, rotors, even boil your brake fluid due to the high temps, which will cause you to have serious air bubblage in your lines, all this is real bad, especially if it all happens while your driving, you will have a real fun time stopping
