I have had my heat insulated tubular manifold on now going on 4 months, today after a hard day of driving, went to check my oil and noticed that my white plastic dip stick, common on 2G's has begun to melt on the side closest to the manifold, is there any way that I could make or buy something metal to plug or check my oil with, and prevent this from happening again.

i wish mine was plastic, mine is metal and i burn my hand every time i check my oil, even useing my shirt to hold the stick :notgood:

Lol....well I Rather Have A Metal One, @ Least I Dont Have To Worry About It Melting ....want To Trade.

ok...well out of all these replies I have yet to here an alternative to my "###" plastic dipstick, where can I get a metal one or is there any way I can fabricate something to block the hole with until I want o check my oil....and no I do not have a heat shield, considering I have a tubular manifold, didnt know they made them for tubular manifolds. It does have heat wrap however.

thks man ...... i guess ebay would be the best place to look for a 1g dipstick right ..... fan fans are ok so far ....LOL

hey you can either go to the dealer for the 1g dipstick or go to www.machv.com and search for dipstick because i wasnt able to find it directly on the site so i had to use machv's search and enter in dipstick and it came up. i think it was like 18 bucks including 6 bucks shipping. If you find one on ebay go for it, i had a very hard time finding a dipstick, its better to buy new, or you could possible find one at a local junk yard. Hope all that helps.... :thumb: :dsm: :dsm:

at the moment it seems like machv's website is down but it should come up later, just so you know that it isnt a fake link.... ROFL ROFL :sneaky:

hey thks for all your replies...hopfully in this will help all those 2G peoples out there that are having this issue.

I just got one from the dealer. $16.40 plus tax. It seems like it will stay in better as well and doesn't have orings and such to fall off. :thumb:

awesome ....... it just sucks that i have drive a 2 hours away to go to the dealership....so maybe it worth that 18 or so bucks, GAS is so damn expensive ....... BOOOOOOO!
