Hey guys,

I bought my 1G with a set of Megan Racing Coilovers self-installed by the previous owner. I let my wrench look over the car after I bought it and asked him about the suspension. On the Driver side, the adjustment plate at the top of the strut is maxed to the outside. The passenger side plate is centered. I asked my wrench if there was a reason for that and he told me, "It was to counter-act the understeer that came from the factory". I am making adjustments to my suspension before I get an alignment, and wanted to know if this is correct before I mess with it.

Nice adjustment plates. A couple items here:

1. Primary response from the upper-strut adjuster is camber.
2. Negative camber provides more cornering grip. (fully inboard setting)
3. Measure camber with an ordinary "bubble level" vertical on wheel. (trigonometry)
4. Adding grip in the front provides over-steer.
5. Adding grip in the rear provides under-steer.

Measure your camber at all four corners. A bit more negative-camber in the rear is generally a good thing. Radial tires aren't overly sensitive to camber for tire-wear within a couple degrees. Read up on where guys are setting their 1G static camber for DD.

To myself, that much difference in setting L/R is not normal, unless you are constantly going around in a circle.
