Hi everyone. My hallman mbc just came in today, and it suggests (well, more tells you) that you need a "performance exhaust" to run the boost controller. I'm pretty sure that's not 100% true, although I do see the benefits of opening up the exhaust. Don't get me wrong, it's my next mod. I have intake, UICP, and a 1g BOV. And I didn't forget the boost gauge  . In the 2g turbo mod upgrading section of this forum, it suggests a boost controller before exhaust... I assume the instructions were just a guideline and not a must. What do you guys think? oh, I'm just trying to turn boost down at this point since I'm peaking at 17 and running 16psi. :dsm:

Yeah the last time I checked the only thing you "needed" to use a MBC with was a wastegate and a turbo.WTF. But yeah your fine, just make sure when you hook it up, that you do not tap the BOV line. Your going to want a source from the turbo and the wastegate.

You're correct, a larger exhaust is not a necessity but it is recommended. It sounds like your o.k. to go ahead and install the MBC. Just be careful and don't get too aggressive in turning up the boost. On the stock fuel system 16 psi is the max. you should hit. 14 psi would be safer.

When you do finally upgrade your exhaust you'll love how much more quickly the turbo spools and how much harder it pulls throughout the rpm's.

thanks guys... don't worry about me turning it up too high- i actually got it so I could turn it down a bit cause i'm running 16 and wanted to put it down to about 14-15. I appreciate the responces! :dsm:

P.S does anyone know how man posts I need to be able to post outside of the newbie forum? I don't want to make pointless posts just to reach this point.

Its the quality of the post not the quatity, if you post helpful information and get enough rep points you will be made a proven member.
