maybe the o2 sensor

Would a bad o2 sensor cause the engine to misfire
and let unburned gas come out the tailpipe? If not
than what might it be?

That's one possibility. Here's a couple others:

- Bad FPR (happened to me)
- Stuck injector(s)
- ECU?
