manual transmission fluid help??

I am confused on what to put in the transmission because haynes manual says to use 75w-85w gear lube, I thought that you only put gear lube in cars with rear differentials. Am I wrong??? I don't know if I should put that in or (royale purple) 10w40. HHHmmm, Maybe the book is right???? please could someone help. thanks

gear oil goes in most manual trannys. I put 85-90w in my tanny.

Just to add to this i wanted to change all my drive train fluids what could you guys recommend me using for my transmision, t- case, and rear differential.

Get some Redline MT-90 to put in the trans and transfer case.. Will make it much smoother.

Get 3 qts.. 2.4 for the trans, and .6 for the transfer case.

In the rear just put regular diff oil.

just regular diff oil. Anyplace will have it. I think it's 85w

they dont make 75w-85w anymore unless maybe through the dealer but at pep boys or advance auto they reccomend 75w-90w
