Manual Tranny fluid quantity question??? help!!

I just replaced the tranny fluid in my 98 eclipse 2.0 n/a. i read that it requires about 2.5 qts of fluid. mine began spilling out of the fill hole at about 2 qts. why cant my tranny hold 2.5 qts? or is 2 qts about the right amount of fluid? my car was sitting with only the front raised when i drained and refilled. could that be the cause, maybe all of the old fluid didnt drain out?? any info is appriciated. thanks

Yes, if you weren't fully level it won't completely drain. However, it won't really matter much. Don't sweat it.

N/T manny tranny's hold roughly 2qt.
