i have been searching the forums for the answer to my question but i couldnt find an answer.
my car is over boosting in 2nd-5th gear so i got a MBC. i dont know the brand cause it didnt come in a package. ( i can possibly put pictures up later if needed) anways i was told a MBC will fix the problem. in first gear it boosts up to 10psi which is what i want for all the other gears, but when i shift to other gears it will boost up to 20psi. and i know that is WAY to high, so i actually was wondering if a MBC will fix this problem.
also ive been looking at how to hook it up and think i can do it easily, the only thing holding me back is that there are wires coming out of the stock boost controller. im thinking its an electronic boost controller. so would i have to take out all the wiring from that and then put the MBC in or just unhook the wires and put it on?
please any help will be much appriciated. sorry for such a long post i just wanted to make it as clear as possible to all you turbo vets out there.
thanks again

Spicoli bro!!

I'm pretty sure you can just unplug the existing one and hook the MBC up. Its simple to do really. It should be shapped like so |- The line from the bottom goes to the wastegate and the line from the side goes to the J-pipe. Hope this answers your question.:thumb:

ok cool that answered my wire question but my boost controller has 2 ports coming out 1 side and the nob to adjust it is on the top. so in a sence lookes like an F (the bottom part of the F is where the adjuster is)
also would you know if putting this on would fix my over boosting problem? just cause it only over boosts in second-fifth gear.

Hmmmm...I've never delt with one of those but I would assume the line that would be the top of the F would connect to the wastegate and the middle one to the J-pipe. I would say yes it will fix your problem because MBC are alot more accuate at controlling boost than electronic ones IMO.

the top port on the boost controller (the top line of the F) has an arrow pointing in the direction of the port that says "arrow points toward wastegate actuctor"
so i assume what you are saying is right but i dont know what actuctor means.
I'm kind of a paranoid person when it comes to putting things on cars. im afraid if i do it wrong i will break something.
thats why im so worried about it over boosting. i dont race at all. (i mean im 21 so i have a nice led foot but dont race at a track) so i dont want it to ever boost and blow up my engine. for instance i was driving today and was in 4th gear and kinda got on the throttle and wasnt paying attention to the boost. and it must have spooled up enough to pull the lower intercooler pipe off. its just a rubber tube so i think it was just sucked off by the turbo. it made a very bad noise and made the car turnoff. and of course with my luck i was on the highway. so i had to pull over and use a beer opener to tighten the hose clamp.
i really dont want that to happen again haha.
