so i am doing a baja bug project and yes this has something to do with DSM's haha. and i want to drop a 4g63t in it, and i was wondering if there is anyone who knows if it is possible to regear them to lower gears. mabe get a little more torque out of it. ill still use the stock 5 speed tranny thats why im asking. im thinking ill need lower gears so i can get some bigger tires moving better 31 tires on 15 inch rims that is.
any help would be much appriciated.
thank you so much

The best you can do for your 4g63t mid mounted baja is use a
locked to fwd evo box with a mech lsd. It has a 5.435 final drive.
If you rear mount the 4g63t behind a 2ltr vw box, there is 5* diffs
for quicker launches. If you want legs, find a reco'd 2ltr box with a
serial number starting with (CP or CT) = 4.571 diff in those boxes.
Cheers !
