This problem is bothering the heck out of me. Anyone that could help me would be greatly appreciated. My low fuel trim is maxed out at 138%. The o2 cycles at 167.8% (max). When I turn on the ac the o2s will immediately start cycling at 65% to 85% and eventually the low fuel trim will end up at about 98%. My question: is there some sort of sensor that isnt engaging when the ac isnt on to keep the fuel trim where I set it? I checked the throttle body switch but it is working just fine. This is a new one to me and is very frustrating. Alll of my other fuel trims are just about perfect 100-110%. The car pulls hard and has no other issues. I am running a 2.4 liter g4cs hybrid, huge fmic, 660s, big 16g, maft translator. Anyone else encounter similair problems?? Thanks for your time! Sean

Can someone just verify for me that when they turn the ac on the car runs rich at idle?? Someone with a 1g just verify for me by turning on their car, letting it warm up, and then turning on the ac makes the low fuel trim go wacky. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sean

YES, My 1G will run full rich at idle with the AC on. I have my SAFC tuned for normal cruise to keep my LOW fuel trim at about 105% to 115%. As soon as I hit the AC it will start to add fuel till the low trim maxes out at full rich 81.3%. Once the AC is off it starts to level out back at my cruise settings. My best guess is that increased Idle and air flow when the AC clutch is engauged causes the rich condition. More "load" on the motor but no increase in the TPS.

Thanks, I wanted to make sure this was normal. It sure throws a wrench in the tuning as the knock counts get all crazy when its on. When its off I rarely get more than 10 counts of knock. Very weird. THANKS MITSUBISHI!!

The same thing happens to me. As soon as the car is to operating temps, the fans will kick on and the low fuel trim will go rich. When the fan kicks off the trim will go back to where it was initially. Not at all sure what causes that, but I have noticed it for over a year now.
