loud squeal on start up and whine at idle

Whenever i start the car i get a loud horrible screeching squeal for like 10-15 secs. Then it stops , then i get a whine almost like a supercharger at idle . Can i please get someones input and yea and btw ive replaced alternator and water pump in the last year !

Check your engine belts. If they are worn or just getting old you might wana replace them, that would make the squeel your talking about. My car does the same thing, i havent had the time to change the belt yet.

def. still check the belts.. and also the pulleys, mine got bent some how and now it slowly tears the belt and makes a sqeall just like you described. good luck

Then make sure they're tightened/tensioned properly.

PS pump + belt tends to make that "whine" you talk about.

Many new accessories will whine when they are new and breaking in. But that will only last from a couple days to several weeks, usually.

Also check all your accessories (while you are checking belts) for any sort of shaft play. Bad bearing can make those sounds.

Check your harmonic balancer for signs of seperation, also check your shift key and make sure it's functioning properly.

Then make sure they're tightened/tensioned properly.

This was the problem I had, it was my alternator belt. Tightened it up via the tensioner and no more squeals at startup.

Check the simpler things first before going out and replacing things.

You mentioned your belts were changed recently was the timing belt also replaced and if so did the whining start just after? A timing belt that is not properly tensioned will make a supercharger type of whine.
