ok ive got a ptt twin disk and it lost its clamping force. i was thinking of rebuilding. ive heard so not so great things about the ptt and ive heard some ok things about others. so what im asking for is user experince. good or bad. also anyone have one rebuilt? they told me 500 i believe in an e-mail but others tell me its always more then that. so some input would be great

Well, the cost of rebuilding the clutch depends on what is worn out. If it is just the friction disks that are out of spec, then it is usually a couple hundred bucks for new disks. If the floater is out of spec, then it is normally around $100, and the pressure plate is around $120. A rebuilt clutch cover should be around $60 for a new spring assembly.

As well, you will need to factor in the cost of resurfacing the flywheel to the proper specification step height and confirm flatness.

With that said, if the price that they are quoting you is over 500-600 for a refresh from PTT, I would shop around for a new clutch and reuse the flywheel as it is usable with several other clutch manufacturer's clutch assemblies.
