Less power during spool after SD

So I recently switched to speed density (yay!) and I'll just say I'm loving it! However after the switch I've noticed a difference that I can't really pin down to any particular cause. Running my clipped MHI big 16g previously with the MAF tune power would roll on fairly smooth from ~0psi to peak boost (~16psi). Now, as soon as I switched to speed density, it seems to kind of hang until ~10psi according to the butt dyno. According to logs, watching the gauge, and listening to the turbo, it still spools just as quick; there's just a gap. Right after 10psi it starts ripping all the way up to ~20psi.

I'm running the same AFR's at idle, cruise, spool up, and full boost as before +/- .2 and even a little more timing around spool up. Mod list in profile is current and complete. Nothing else changed during the switch and no boost leaks (not that they matter now, but everyone asks :p). Oh, BOV IS vented, but I've verified that it is not opening until it's supposed to.

It's not a terrible PROBLEM per say, but I'll admit I'm damn curious as to what would have made that happen. :hmm:

More timing during spool up will actually slow down the spool slightly. Your swith to SD is probably seeing more load on spool up. Need to take out a little timing and probably smooth out the table for the change in load curve during spool.

Do you have the logs before and after the switch you could post up?

Just a friendly tip on tuning for spool!

Boost is a measurement of restriction in the inlet manifold and cylinder head. It has nothing to do with flow, power or torque.

With that being said, tune for highest torque output.

Actual spool-up of the turbo isn't the problem, just a lack of power during that time. I do have logs, but the filetypes aren't Tuners friendly (TunerProRT and Jackal). They're hard to compare though, since one is MAF Hz and the other MAP and IAT.. I will have to look between the logs more closely to see what might be different.

I am aware of that, and peak torque is the goal. Obviously can't get it perfect without a dyno, but I've got it pretty close so far. I'm just trying to make it a nice smooth torque curve on the butt dyno.

EDIT: Just checked MAF and SD logs against each other, antilag you nailed it! At any given point during spool up I was running about 10-15* LESS O_O That might explain the extra glow from my manifold too.. Haha, now to adjust and see how she does!
