Okay I was arguing with my buddy today cause we were trying to figure out what is the best launch at the track for a awd. He kept saying by reving it at 4500 rpm and then let go of the clutch(dumping it), and I kept arguing the best is by slipping the clutch. I know that the awd launch at high rpm is not good for our transfer cases but what do u guys think? AWD Launch at high rpm(u know just dumping the clutch) or Slipping the clutch?

:nono: You never dump the clutch not even a FWD. I have two five gallon buckets of broken axles and tranny shrapnel. Its more of a real fast slip, not to much because you will smoke the clutch.

Like said above, slip it just enough but not to the point where your burning your clutch. Your friend obviously never launched an awd cause he would straight bog if he trying dumping it at 4,500rpms. 5500 Rpm launches FTW!

Well each car is unique, like a woman. You have to find that sweet spot for your car. I'd start at 4.5k and quick-slip it out. and then you may want to try going up from there, but I wouldn't go any higher than 5.5K. I launch about 5k if I do more I actually spin the tires a bit then take off. Plus you have to find where the best place to run in the grove is. Some people prefer int eh grove some people prefer out, and some do half in half out. I normally do full int he grove.

wow, thats a terrible time on an AWD. I threw a 15.009 at under 88 mph and i was FWD. wondering what the AWD will do. haven't hit the track yet :) (there is a time posted up there somewhere ;) )

Dont dump it.. heck feathering it at high rpms isnt really "safe" ive snaped an axle launching before.. no fun there :(
