i have a 97 gsx, 6 bolt,20g,greddy intercooler,660 injectors and other mods and a upgraded clutch and fly, ive never been to the track before, ive never really launched my car, in short terms im asking is, how do i launch my car ?

Hold it at 4500 or 5000RPMs and slip the clutch, as in slowly let it out. Don't drop or side step the clutch. If you do it right your RPMs should NOT drop more than 400-500RPMs from your launch RPM. If your car hesitates when you launch, you let the clutch pedal out too quick. If you smell burnt clutch/flywheel, you slipped it too much/slow.

Practice launching, and when you do, wait a few (more like 10-15) minutes for the clutch to cool down between each launch. Don't go out and do 30 launches in 30 minutes on the same night.

If you know another DSMer in your area, get a hold of him/her and ask them to show you. It works better if you get 'hands-on' training. :)

if you do it right your rpms shouldn't drop at all. Practice on dirt because it is very forgiving. You want to rev the car up (I usually try 5500ish) and you want to slip the clutch but in a very quick manner. The slipping get all of the slack out of the driveline and once you feel the clutch start to really grap slam that shit out and hold on for 2nd cause it comes fast.
