Looking to buy a new suspension setup for my GSX. Daily driven with some trips to the strip and two autoxs a year.

Im thinking about running koni yellows up front due to them being the overall best for our cars. I would like to do konis in the rear but the price and the difficulty of adjustment is making me think to go with tokico Illuminas in the rear instead. I looked around and didnt find anyone mention this steup, is there anyone with it?

As for springs, I would like to run coilovers but the price and the fact that I will only use the setup to get the right height of the car makes me want to just go with lowering springs instead. I want to spend more on the shocks which are more important.

As for springs im looking at Eibach pros right now but maybe H&R sports.

IMO.. I dont think you should do two different shock setup it might effect the performance of the handling .. I do believe that the koni shocks are actually shorter shock compared to tokico or kyb etc.. and as for springs I H&R is not a bad idea at all.. I have always used the H&R sports in all vehilces i have ever tuned and I find that they are a very great spring.. tight around corners and still a decent comfort ride overall..

I think your right about konis being shorter but is it enough for problems? ive seen 1G cars run koni front with KYB rear and I'm just wondering if it is ok for 2Gs to do the same.

I dont think any car will make a difference for being better or worse, it is kind of a odd setup.. Most people do the same shocks throughout the whole car. But if your on a tight budget I would just do KYB all around or Tokico all around until you can afford Koni's. All up to you though.. So I hope that helps

I'm really not opposed to the idea of running Illumina rears and Konis up front. In my opinion, all the hard work is done up front and thats where I'd want my money. Obviously I'd be most happy with Konis all the way around but budget, economy etc etc.
I currently run Illuminas on all 4 corners with Eibach ProKits. The ProKits are WAY too soft and my Illuminas have WAY too much rebound. When you push the car you really do feel like you're taking your life into your own hands.
That said, perhaps Koni's up front would keep help and give a more controlled ride but I can't say for sure. But I'm betting it'd be an improvement no matter how you look at it.

If you only want a street car then Illuminas/Prokits (or H&R OE's) would be just dandy. But my "street car" demands stiffer springrate and dampening (with less rebound) after only a year or two on the equipment.

Hope that helps.

EDIT: Oh, and the comments about the Koni's being shorter... Well yes, they're shorter, but this isn't a "problem" as it was suggested, but more of an advantage. The advantage of having a shorter shock body is increased suspension travel -and who doesn't want that?

x 2. I run the same setup. My next shocks will be Konis.

What is difficult about adjusting the Konis on the rear of a 2G? It is basically identical to the Illuminas. I've run both Tokico Illuminas and Koni Yellows at all 4 corners. I *think* the 1G rear Konis have some silly bottom adjuster, but not on the 2G.
