knock level?

have a stock car for right now and got a safc 2 installed and its not tuned at all so its not adjusting anything right now it pretty much is a gauge.but my knock level at idle is like between 25 and 35 but when driving it dosent really go above 5 just wondering if any one had any ideas y its so high and if this is a bad sign. also some backround info its a 95 tsi awd i have a vaccum leak my vaccum is at about 11 in hg and i cant find the leak.

if your getting 5* knock while driving thats not good and can destroy your engine.... and 25* at idle just sounds like phantom knock ... when there is no load on the engine there is no knock... if you didnt know the knock sensor is essentially a microphone picking up loud noises at certain Decibel ranges. are you seeing this knock through the SAFC? the SAFC itself could be reading wrong also... ill let someone else chime in though.

ya im getting those numbers from the safc. also if it was knocking that bad would it throw some type of code? Also would like to know if anyone know what the knock level number means? like if it was 5 does that mean like 5 times a second or i dont know jsut trying to learn as i go thanks for any info
