Hey all,
Don't worry, I know we're not supposed to post racing stories here. This isn't one (as far as I go anyway)...
I was out cruising in the Talon on Monday after work, and I was getting ready to turn right onto a 4 lane road. As I was waiting for traffic on this road to clear, I notice that the last car I'm waiting on (so I can make my turn) is nothing other than a red Laser! So I think to myself "cool, maybe I'll catch up to him and give him a friendly nod".
I make the turn, and it looks like he's slowed down somewhat so I catch up to him fairly quickly. He keeps slowing down and he's in the right lane, so I slowly switch lanes and start to go around him. His Laser looks like it's in decent condition, the exhaust looked kinda rusted out and there was some rust and a few blemishes on the body here and there, but not too bad. So as I get even with him, I look over and notice that the driver is a Hispanic kid, looking like he was maybe fresh out of high school if not still in. He's just looking at me with a sort of blank stare, but I go ahead and give this fellow DSM'er a friendly smile and a nod. As soon as I do that, what does he do? He steps on the gas!
I just sit there in my lane, watching in amazement as this kid punches it and pulls away from me, "enjoying" the somewhat beat-up sound of his car, watching the exhaust rattle as he gets further and further away. I just hold my speed, and say to myself "Oooookay then, whatever you say buddy!" Finally when he's maybe 1/8 of a mile ahead of me he starts to slow down again. I end up catching back up to him, never once changing my speed from my normal cruising speed of 5 over the limit. Again I look over at him, and again he's giving me the blank stare, except this time he gives me a thumbs up! So I smile and nod again (what else could I do?
) and at the upcoming intersection he goes left and I go right. An interesting experience.
I don't know if he thought I was going to race him, or if he was um... just trying to give me a *show*?
I guess that's what happens sometimes when all you're doing is trying to give some respect to a fellow DSM'er!
Now I imagine him telling his friends about how he "smoked a 2G Talon like it was standing still, yo!"
Oh well, it's always fun to see how people are going to react when you just try to say "Hi there!"
Anyone else have similar "non-race" stories?

i only had a friendly convo with about 3 strangers with dsm's everyone else just yells at me or acts like they are so cool because they have an EcLiPsE Rs WiTh RiMs Yo!

I always rev my engine to around 5,000 when I pass another dsm, it's my own dsm howdy...our cars are able to hit good rpms compared to regular dailys...so why not impress other vehicles around when we are just saying...HI!
So the lane splits in two lanes and the speed limit is 35 MPH. The guy pulled next to me and starts reving his car, it souned like it was gonna die, and it took off going about 50-55 and what makes it better is that there's a cop was waiting about a block away. Lolz..
