Hello group I have a question to ask I am almost done the engine work I have done to my 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS since I purchased it to where it’s ready to be towed to a garage for the timing work to be done any how my question is I do want to get a second key made up for this car what is the process to do that like do I just purchase another key have it cut and use it or so I need to go to a Mitsubishi dealership to get it programmed

Go to the Mitsu dealer with your key and your VIN. They have blanks and can make you one. Almost all locksmiths and dealers make you bring your title and/or registration with you now, to prove you own the car.

Thank u so much that’s what I thought but I wasn’t sure once the car is up and running I will definitely do that

Would the dealer also have a replacement remote fob I can get for my OEM remote entry and alarm??

I went to my local lock & key shop and got a key cut for $2... you're looking at $25 from the dealership, why do that? There's even travel locksmiths that will come to your house and cut one by hand for $20.

Since that part has been discontinued, that’s unlikely, unless they just happen to have NOS. There are several choices on the web that can be programmed to work with our cars.

Because your Mitsu dealer should have the “Mitsubishi” logo key — like originally came with the car. It’s got the nice, rounded plastic end on it that is often higher quality, and feels better when you use it, as opposed to a soft, sharp edged generic blank.
