Amidst my on going battle to get my car running, my radiatorbarn.com radiator took a shit on me and started leaking with just fluid being in the radiator, ZERO pressure and it still leaked. I don't blame them though, I was being really rough with everything in the garage (moving it around, etc.) so undoubtedly it's because of that. Anyway, I did a little research and landed upon this beauty.

1" core, full metal radiator and it comes with a 13" spal fan. For 270 shipped, it's the best deal in town :thumb: (pricewise vs. koyo, etc). I ordered Friday afternoon and received it today. 4 business days from MAP to NJ, awesome.

I must say, I'm impressed at the quality of this radiator and am sure it will keep me nice and cool during the summer. I was originally thinking of putting on another 12" pusher fan in front of the radiator, but I'm thoroughly convinced it's not needed. I suppose I'll find out in a couple of months how wrong/right I am LOL

wooo hoo for the 1" core! LOL. At least its got a fancy mouting bracket for the fan. FWI i got my 2" core for $180 shipped, and tossed a 14" spal puller and 12" spal pusher. The TIG welds look nice though. Nice project.

Looks really good Tom. Any benefits from using the flexible hoses?

No benefit, just easier to route the lines. Back when I had a DNP tubular, the stock upper rad hose was always getting melted. With these lines, I could move it away from the manifold. No use now, they just replaced my OEM ones.

What kind of results do you think that a hose would give you

Also is that fan mounted right up to the face of the radiator? It is kind of hard to see from the pics posted.

The bracket is welded to the end tanks, so there is about a 1/2" gap between the bottom of the fan and the face of the core.

Do you plan on filling in the gap?

Looks good Tom, I just received my Koyo, it was abit more & I have to buy the SPAL fans LOL

Are you sure thats a 14" fan though? Unless that core is larger then factory, the 14" SPAL shouldn't fit. The 14" is 14.45" across, at the narrow (flat ends) side. Our factory core & the Koyo is only 13 something in height. I was thinking I could squeeze the 13" SPAL on mine, which is 13.62" even though most seem to go with the 12" (12.64"). I want to get the largest cfm fan I can fit.

The Koyo radiator is definitely a nice piece. The thickness of it does make the space between the fans and the turbo limited though, even with slimlines.

You should check out the Flex-a-Lite fans. Those suckers move some serious air :sneaky:

I'm going with their 13" high performance, rated at 1710cfm for the main fan & either their 13" or 12" medium profile for the AC fan, rated at 1250 or 1230cfm. The fAL setup is 2500cfm total with both fans.

Please post up some pictures and a little review when you install them. I want to see how tight everything is and how well they work. Sounds like a good combo though :)

Hi,

What up Tom.

The new radiator/fan you got looks like it fits real good. Hope it works out for you. Just bummed that I wont be in NJ to see you finish her off and start her up, haha.

No, I'm not. I'm curious to see how this radiator will run 'out of the box'. If need be, I will be putting on an additional 12" push fan to the front of the radiator.

Daren,
Sorry, website lists it's a SPAL 13" fan. As far as your koyo, :nono: haha. The setup your describing should be a nice piece. :thumb:

Toan, did you rewire the fans? If so, what gauge did you use?

I didn't rewire it. I just wired it so that the factory plug could accomodate the wires. 2 for ground 2 for power. Our stock system has a HI/LO switch for driving. I like having my fans on all the time (via dsmlink) so it doesn't matter to me. As far as gauge, that's the stock wiring, I'd guess it to be 10 gauge versus the fan's 14 gauge or so.

Bill, yea man I'm pretty bummed that I couldn't start the car this week, but once I get some videos, turn the bass up and pretend we're both standing in my garage :sneaky::p

That looks sexy Tom! I was looking at these along ime ago, but I've been thinking about a nice aftermarket honda radiator. Where did you get the new stock rubber for the radiator supports? I can't wait to see this running.

Oh and for an idea to combate any over heating issues get a one-way sign, and weld it (at an acute angle) to the lower member that the lower radiator supports are one so it can "scoop" air into the radiator, to get extra air past the FMIC.

Sorry to dig this up after a week, but does anyone know where I can order a Visteon radiator for a 1g? MAPerformance only carries the 2g one. Thanks!
