So it took two months of waiting but the results blew me away. They took their time and pulled off all the trim and took the time to paint all the jams and it came out great.

The color is called Sunset Pearl by Mitsubishi. Its the same color used on the 2006 Eclipse, though mine seems a bit darker (which I like). I think some GM cars use this color as well but they probably call it something else.

I wanted to keep the original Talon black trim and thought a little more would really set the paint off. So we hit the door handles and rear wing in black also. Then I added the VIZ racing carbon fiber hood and its complete.

Guess now I need to redo the interior as the tan doesnt look bad, but it could look better. And the 17 year old leather seats are cracked. Im thinking of going with a black leather seats with burnt orange trim to off set the paint. Any thoughts or other ideas?

Looks good. I personally don't like the black door handles. But as long as you're happy.

How much did the paint job run you? Did you have any body work done prior to paint? I'm looking to get some body work and paint done to my car and don't have a clue what a decent price would be.

It needed a few dents smoothed out but the body was in good shape and the guy that painted it did all the body work too. Best part is with the economy the way it is this paint shop was hurting for business so I got it all done for $1800. Kind of a friend of a friend deal for after hours work.

Now I also remembered I need the Eagle emblem decal thingy for the front bumper. Cant get them from Chrysler anymore as they dropped the Eagle brand long ago. I dont want any other decals as it gives it more of a sleak look. But that front bumper looks weird without it.

Sweet ride Danny! Looks alot better than it did when I sold it to ya. Now buy my GT-12!! OMG)

Holy shit Danny! You still got the rubber chicken I won for my ex ex ex girlfriend like 3 years ago! WTF? I won it out of one of those claw machines where you try to grab stuff and pick it up...that what I won OMG)

Sure does bring back some memories!

im not so sure washing the car immediately after you got it back is a good idea

looks nice though

Should have painted the door handles and wing the same color as the car. Looks good though.

Looks like it rained... Everything else is wet. :hmm:

And I would hope that if he did wash it he would have dried it off with a high quality chamois.

They did a good job. Personally I like the spoiler being black, flows nicely with the carbon hood.

Yeah it rained just before I took the pics. I was going out to dry it and snapped the pics first.

Ive actually had the car back a couple days just havent gotten around to taking the pics, go figure it rains 5 minutes before I have a chance.

Seth, I cant believe you are looking inside the car... Notice the paint, not the chicken dangling off the mirror. Yeah it looks much better. The old paint was so cracked it was almost a shame to be driving it around. I just told the paint guy to scrap the hood your sister backed into since JD gave me that carbon fiber hood for my birthday. Drove it home without a hood and put the new one first thing. Took a little adjustment of the hood latch but fits nicely.

Nice color just dont like the handles, makes it look like the eclipse rs models.

*hush without any turbo or AWD badging its supposed to look like an RS model. * :D

j/k
The door handles were a last minute decistion. The paint guy had sprayed the whole car in color and had the trim pieces in the booth still drying. He called me out to take a look at it and see what I think of it. He didnt have the door handles on the car and I asked if he had painted them yet, he hadnt so I thought it would be a nice contrastin black. He then suggested maybe the side vents black also, but I thought they would look like holes in the car from far off.

So anyone have any thoughts about the interior? Its factory tan right now. Im thinking of doing the seats in black with orange stiching and orange door trim. Well thats IF i can find the right color orange to match. Black carpet and headliner.

Shamwow! Also good for cleaning up hooker blood and vomit. If you haven't seen that video, youtube it.

I think it looks pretty good. I would of done all black just below the door trim and wing if it were mine. Also I'd buy new wheels without any chrome/polished non sense. I just don't like that style. Oh and I agree with the handles orange, but I don't see it as an eye sore at all. Nice lookin car man

Well I had this crazy idea of painting the polished lip that same color orange, but so far Ive thought better of it.

Danny. Thats a special rubber chicken. Take care of it.
Whatever happened with the windshield? That ####er was caulked in or something. And the doors and drivers rear quarter was definitely bondo's and rattlecanned when I bought it. The interior is def. nice though, tan leather. The only DSM I ever owned with it.

You should post some pics of it before the paint. It wasn't too shameful but definitely needed love.

Also, I opted to go with the black vents. I think it looks good. We should meet up for a photoshoot next time I'm in town.

Yeah the car was sanded all the way down to metal as the cracks in the paint had gone all the way to the sealer.

Basicly the paint guy removed the winshield trim and could lift the glass off the car in one corner. So Im just gonna have the whole thing replaced and done right. I got a guy lined up to do it, just gotta get some time off to have it done.

I actually dont have any pictures of it before the paint save one on my cell phone. Its too small to really see anything. Like JD said, it had a 20 foot paint job on it. It looked fine from 20 feet away, but once you got up on it...

Yeah next time you are in town well go to the track or something and take some pics like on dsm-racing.com Who else still has a DSM? Cody? Hell Ive got two I can bring :p

Lol yeah man, I'm coming home next weekend. Its funny you own more DSM's than me now. I never imagined I would own an FD RX-7 with a GT40R either....crazy! But time passes, weather changes, and shit happens! Thinking back on it....I think I've owned 10 DSM's in my time. Ol' Whitey has always been around though, and wouldn't ever dream of changing her. She's been through more girlfriends than I can shake a stick at....

But some memorable stuff happened when I owned your car too! Did you wipe down the seats when you bought it? :)

Oh and BTW, thanks for not being interested in my turbo. I actually got off my ass and did some research. I found out my turbo has a GT3076R cartridge....same as a FP3052, so I bought a blown FP turbo off a dude dirt cheap and am about to convert mine over. Peace!
