Ok I bought a 1995 Gst from one of my boys boys for 500 bucks. Perfect body and interior but a bad motor. Says a bad rod but I havent taken it apart yet so I am not sure. I did search but I have some dumb questions..

Head he says is a 1G head. How can I tell other than the CAS because this one doest have one on the pass. side of block. Is there some some #s somewhere I cant find any. It looks like a 1G intake mani and TB and I also noticed the 2G coil back was hooked up all ghetto to the firewall so I am thinking hes telling the truth..

I have read around about the trans and for what I read non of the FWD came with LSD is that correct... I see they can take quite a beating to but how much??

I have a low 12s SRT4 and plan on making this car insane because I can take my tame because the srt is my daily driver. I know alot about turbo and whats needed and such just need to fix some of this ghetto wiring ect and dont know what its supposed to look like so I might be asking a lot of real dumb where stuff is mounted questions cause I can tell this stuff is all over in the wrong spots.... Thanks guys...

In the case of the fabled ghetto wiring, my advice would be to pull that already trashed 7 bolt out and swap a 6 bolt in there, if you have time and money- build it, youll be happy down the road.

As for the FWD tranny (they didnt have an LSD, although there are aftermarket options) durability wise, i went through 2 of them last summer- granted they were used and my car had 80K on it to begin with, but i killed the tranny clutch and flywheel on the 2nd one at only 18psi on an evo III 16g with a 2600 clutch on the 2nd-3rd shift. If you were thinking like a forced performance turbo , holset, or anything larger than an evo 3- id advise a performance rebuild and a quality LSD (not an insert). Im pretty sure a monster snail would destroy a stock FWD tranny fairly quickly, especially with slicks/correct tuning/hard driving.
p.s. 2nd gear syncros arent that great, just change the fluid often and take it "easy" on it.

I wish i could help you with wiring, but i never really mess with the 2nd gens.

Yes I plan on a 6bolt swap and probably a gt35 turbo with all kinds of supporting mods. I am in no hurry to get it done if it take till christmas whatever I just want this car to be deadly.

I figure the trans will need a little work. Probably go with qualife cause its in my srt4 and I have had no problems.

I just really need to find out if its an actual 1G head. I head you can do some custom crap to use the 95-up sensor under the intake cam gear so I was wondering if theres any #s that will say what year...
