I bought a motor not 2 long ago and after i bought it i had a local dsm guy come look at it, he claims its a JDM Spec motor. It came with a red valve cover, big 16g and yellow top 510cc injectors. It didnt come with an intake mani. Anyway to tell by just looking the motor?

The JDM motors did come with yellow top 510cc injectors, a big 16G, and some did have a red valvecover. It also has a short runner intake manifold, better flowing exhaust manifold, and better flowing O2 housing. Mechanically however, I believe they're identical to the 2g DSM 4g63. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

Sounds about right. I believe that is an early Evo motor, though it may be a GVR-4 motor. Mechanically, they are not really different than USDM motors, aside from the afore mentioned turbo, manifolds, and O2 housing.

Get yourself an evo intake manifold and you've got a good setup. The stock 2g manifold bolts right up but the runners are longer and don't flow as good. also unless you have something to controll those 510 injectors you should put the factory 450s in or else it'll run funky. Back when I put my evoII motor in my 96 GST (about 9 years ago) I kept the 510s. I figured since they weren't too much bigger than the factory ones the ECU shouldn't have any problem running them. It ran like crap. I put the 450s back in and it ran fine.

There correct i just checkd my jdm motor and it has the yellowtop injectors i didnt even know that i just learned something - i knew the 16g was on it though:hellyeah:

Awesome thanks for your input guys. The guy that came and looked at it said something about the girtters on the bottom of the crank are different from from USDM 6-bolt girtters. Anyway to tell by the casting code on the block or anything?
