Hey fellas,
Been outta the loop for awhile dealing with life, but am trying to creep out slow... tuff times. Anyway... I came across a jdm 6bolt, and I'm wanting to put it in my 96 eclipse. I don't know to much about the whole conversion deal, and searched vfaq, but didn't find what I was looking for, I know the step by step is in there, I've come across it several times a couple of years ago. I don't know all the details to the conversion, but I need this to go smooth, and done right. So here is what I'm getting at. I don't have alot of cash to hand out to a shop, and know that there are people out there that do the jobs on the side... been in the auto industry most of my life, and do work on cars myself. I'm willing to help out alot, so that i can learn. My daughter turns legal to drive this month, and wants, as promised if she did good in school), the eclipse, or as she refers to it, " Her G-ride". Now its time to hand over the keys, but the engine has been blown for about 2 years, and now I have to get it ready for her, thing is, I can drop a 7 bolt in blind folded, but I got this real nice jdm six bolt because of the rumors of how much better a 6 bolt is.. and the whole crankwalk thing... basically its better to go six bolt, and this one is abouts 50,000 miles. If anyone wants to do the job, or share the info, or even trade me a 7 bolt for this 6 bolt, but the 7 bolt ofcourse has to be just in great of shape as this one. Meaning low miles, block/head, etc... the usual routine, pm me, My time is limited. Thanks guys in advance, I just want my daughter to have a good engine in her car... she's done Honor role since the 6th grade(which is when I first got eclipse), and has dreamed to own it... till this day she keeps getting honors grades, and wanted to hand the keys over with a good running car... She's a good kid aside that, and very responsible, so I don't have a problem handing this beauty over to her... also she knows how to do her own tune ups, brakes, fluid top offs, and other the basics, she calls it basic training... funny eh? She really makes me happy being curious and wanting to learn about her car... alright guys... thanks for listening.

Thanks, but I ran into some problems.... time, missing cam sensor, and dude I got the motor from hasn't returned my calls, he was supposed to give me the flywheel, and clutch setup today... also coilpacks are missing... Danget!!! why me??? why me??? anyone with a seven bolt want to trade? or want to buy this engine? give you a good deal, pm me...

What is up Fellas(Mario, Dyablo), Good to hear from ya'll... Dyablo give me a freakin' call!!! buddy!!! mario... I want to see that car in person, your like a diamond star in AZ... everyone I talk to, even the guy I bought this jdm six bolt from knows you and your famous awd peel out in parking lots, and has seen your freaking ride, but me!!! from what I hear we are practically neighbors within a 2 mile radius, but I can't ever seem to see you dippin, rollin, or anything lately, back in the day its like almost every party, club, or bar you were there, now its like trying to find a ghost.... je je je... well buddy... thanks for all your guys info... this fella knbtsi1 is an actual dsm tech, and works for a mitsu dealer... I'm going to get together with him throughout the week and put this project together... I really dig wrenching my rides... ain't really one to pay to get it done, I pay to learn hands on... its the only way, but will keep all this info inmind that way I don't leave my baby sitting for so long, and only pull her out to wash her, and tuck her back into the driveway... as amazing as it be though, this whip will blaze right up at the turn of a key, banged up block and all... I was too surprised when that happened... thanks to Mike(boostedinaz) showing me how to do timing on these mad machines... and anyone here that has also helped out in the past. Hopefully I can finally bring her to the INO meets, well thats if my little girl trusts daddy with the keys... LOL!!! Maybe if I show her how to ride my Gixxer, and trade her out for the car during INO time, she'll let it go... LOL!!! jk... but yeah... Well I'll keep all updated, and if any of you want to roll through the pad pm me, and I'll update you with my number... Thanks everyone, I've been out of it so long, and concentrated on putting life back to a stability...

What up Rubin? I'm around 7th and Union up north. You don't really see me cruising the DSM around cause I only drive it on Saturday nights or late nights when i'm out tuning the car. Car has been down the last couple of weeks. Just installed an AEM EMS. I'm sure I'll see you out at the next DSM meet. Goodluck with the car.

No doubt Mario... on the other hand... OoOo man do I got alot of things to tell you guys... knbtsi1... amazing fella! and he's got his first AZ good kill story for you on his first night out at my pad helping me, rrrr let me re-iterate, me helping him more like(sorry tristen), with that six bolt transplant... Learned a hell of alot from him... Definitly feel safe calling him a wiseman... but anyway, we get ready to go to the bank, and he asks me if I wanted a ride in his 1st gen talon... I was like hell yeah! so as we make the trip, quick to see a honda behind him at a light, you know how hondas are at the sight of a dsm, or other import... luckily that honda wasn't one to rev... and got saved from getting his v-tec solenoid handed to him(since thats what seems to be the fame' with hondas)... anyway, that sparked up a convo about youngsters, hondas, and how they think that just cause they buy a sixty dollar muffler at your local autozone or pepboys you got a fast car cause its the v-tec engine... Not trying to hate on hondas, cause I drive one myself good gas savers... but just so tired of the people thinking they are so much better than other cars... anyway, we have a convo that pretty much lasts most of the ride to the bank down the street, showing me what tapping on his gas pedal was like(Nice! and lovin' that studder box...), Anyway I'd mentioned to him that it wouldn't take long for someone to pull up on him and hit their throttle to try and get a run on him... then said wait till you get a mustang, or camaro(mainly mustang, cause I work close to AMG(All Mustang Gang, or somehting like that), and many a times had a run in with the guys from there on my lunch hour), basically on that revs.. sure enough pulled out of the bank, and start heading home showing me the sound of his studder boxs effect, and not the fact that he had just finished the build on his motor, so I think he as well I was kinda testin' the beast(respectfully that is)... and thats were I'll end it with( I couldn't stop LOL!!!), and let him finish the rest of the story...

Will tell you one thing... " PHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUDGE!!!! ", that is one fast ride! can anyone say strOkin' ??? that beast didn't waiste any time pushing me into the passengers seat, but practically shoved me and kept me there while polightly showing me it can push me further back, " IN ONLY TWO GEARS!!! ", The man knows his ish! much much much props to him...

Back to the "origin" of the thread. Everything is good, got the six bolt on the engine stand, waiting on some parts. Dropped the 7 bolt on sunday, and got some pics. Will post as soon as I get a chance... Didn't mean to lose any focus of the thread. Kinda bitter about the loss of a point for a "kill" story I didn't even tell, right on Defiant! :thumb:

Alright, I've got two warnings, and think that enough is enough, and wanted to apoligize to defiant, and everyone else thats read the posts that has gone in directions other than what this thread should be. I'm okay with the warnings, and hope they fall off...

Hey ruben, how is that six bolt going? I was going to drop in a six bolt as well in the gst that i had remember? well i ended up selling it and got an evo 9. i was wondering if you going to use DsmLink to help with the cam angle sensor, or how are you going about that?

theres a link to a site that I think nicks2319 recomended earlier in this thread, or I read a thread that came up on the main page.... I think that is what it was, or if not that I came across that I can post on hear as well to were you don't need the dsm link for that, someone figured out a way to avoid any of that on tuners...

The magnus way works without dsmlink, but the problem is that the signal is still inverted, leading to rough idle among other issues. There is an option in dsmlink that inverts the signal, which helps. Also Dsmlink has options to disable the random misfire codes that go along with the swap.
