I was walking around in target the other day and saw that christmas lights were 30% off. I checked and their LED light strands were also on sale. They are made by Philips. So I purchased a string of 60 for only $8.95. I took them home and took them apart. Come to find out they are just regular LED's that have the leads folded into a base! You can remove them very quickly! I removed all of them from the light strand in under 10 minuets. After inspection, I tried lighting one next to one I purchased at radio shack. They both seemed to produce the same light, just the Target one only cost $0.15 each!!! So long story short if you want some very cheap (less than you can get them online without ordering 1000+) semi bright led's, GO CHRISTMAS LIGHT SHOPPING! :tree:

Or if you have a lot of time and skill you can always do this -

Over 1300 LEDs in service!

OP,
Stay around 20-30 mA at most with those Christmas tree LEDs for long-term success. The price is certainly great.

I like this LED wizard better for large series-parallel arrays. It builds a graphic solution for you.

Have to admit I was in the Newbie Forum. and above where it lists the Appearance Forum, I saw the title "It's LED Time" and saw the poster was azDave. I though awwww sh*t he did something else out of this world, but to my dismay, it was just a post. Anyways, good find poster!
