It's coming back...

For the past year my DSM has sat in the garage. It was not a pretty sight, there were pieces everywhere, garage leaking, dim lighting... Every time I looked at my once glorious, to me at least, Talon. With not much money around I slowly parted out my dream. Luckily, I have fallen on a much better job! I will be bringing her back!

Earlier today, I proved that you do not need a cherry picker. Just three motivated guys and some muscle to move a block inside.

My idea is to do the headgasket, but right this time. With a better work area and much more room, I'll be pretty much rebuilding the motor from the ground up. My ideas have changed from a drag car to auto cross

Should be fun...

Good to see someone actually turn it around instead of letting another DSM get thrown away. Nice job.

Got most of the timing belt components off now. Found out where my massive oil leak was from, the oil pump bolt inside that the oil filter screws onto was loose and really grimy. Cleaned it up and it shines real nice now

I found a local shop that inspects and cleans heads for a good price. I was leaking/burning a lot of oil, and am going to redo the piston rings, valve seals and stems. It's getting nice out and I want to get this on the road, but new parts need to come before I do that. Plus, I'm going to take the block to a shop to have some professionals make sure its ok. No camera yet, but I'll get some pictures up soon.
