isc and fiav block off question

I have the FIAV block off and as long as it is leak free I would check for a leaky biss screw first. It's possible the ISC was able to compensate for it before. Also possible to have tiny leaks at the TB shaft seals.

I had an issue with the throttle cable hanging up a tad after the throttle body swap and FIAV block off.

Sorry forgot to mention that the tb is a new rebuild with new seals and what not. I guess I will do a leak test tonight and see what I come up with. Hopefully I can figure it out in time for the shootout.

I have no ISC or FIAV and it idles right at 750rpm. It took a slight adjustment of the (new) BISS but it's fine. Mine was actually a little on the low side at first. Since yours is high have you tried cranking the BISS in a couple more turns?

I made a plate to block off the FIAV, but keep the ISC.. My car idles rock solid at 750 as well. I had to end up going back in though because It was leaking with the gasket paper I made. RTV fixed that right up.

I just blocked mine off as well, and my car fires, revs up to about 4500 and shuts off. just replaced the seals as well and the biss o-ring. Will not even stay running, also when revs up sounds very strange. engine makes a buzzing sound.

mine holds 1k no problem but if I blip the throttle it will either hold 1500rpms or 2400rpms depending on what it feels like doing. Man I hate stock mitsu stuff. I think I am just going to end up running a mustang t/b with the isc from that and run it with the megasquirt. Hopefully then the car will hold a solid idle.

That sounds mechanical to me.....blip it so it holds at 2400 then go in the engine bey and see it the idle falls is you twist the plate closed as much as you can. I had the same problem... My cables were messes up.

Ah good point. I was having a problem with my cable being really soft when I first put in the new t.b. But the feeling when away a little. I guess I am going to check that out when I get home.

I have a 1G TB as well. My cables only cause me problems when I tighten them up at the "black box" thing. If I leave them slightly loose....I have no problems.

I thought I set mine right when I adjusted them on the intake manifold. I pulled it so it was just about right but maybe I pulled it so it stays to far open thus letting in to much air? I guess I will have to play with it.

Even a crack will do what your describing. Mine would close and hold at 1500..I would tweak the TB with my hand and it would settle to 800 like DSMLink was set to. I backed out the stop on my TB and losened the cable a tiny bit and was Ok. Is your Biss all the way in?

no but its not near the middle either. I think you are on the right path though. I will be posting from my car in about an hour here so I will let you know how it goes.

I say put it all the way in then fix it so you have to battle to keek the car alive..then its simple...back the biss out untill you idle where you want it.

you ftw. You were right. But now if I let the throttle out to fast the plate goes to far in. I guess I just need to adjust it tomorrow.

WHat the hell does FTW stand for ROFL I have been in like 6 threads where this has been said to me and I still sit here cluless. On that note..adjust the throttle stop thing up just alittle bit....but first, by to closes far do you mean...idles to low? If so, now is when you adjust your biss to bring it up some and then your back running smooth for the shootout. Pull me an 8 haha. :sneaky:

By closing to far I am mean that the plate sticks cause it closes to much. So I guess I will just need to adjust it a little more. After I gave the cable the little bit of slack though the car ran the way I had planned on when I made my block off plate. I am pretty happy about it.

Nice, and yea adjust the TB stop thing and go one your way. If you go out and turn a 14.2 Go back and see if your 100% WOT is actually 100% WOT at the Throttle body...know what I mean? GoodLuck.

If I go out and run a 14.2 I will shoot myself. The only time my car has ran a time like that was when I blew the 3bolt. I let off and still cut a 1.77 60'. Ended up running a 14.1 at 101. Setting my tps wot setting is pretty easy with megasquirt. None of that get out the volt ohm meter and all of that b.s.

Right, but I was saying that make sure the pedal pulls the Plate open 100% physcially. I have seen it were full pedal wasnt full TB opening...Just another look out. :D
