Intrax/AGXs on, why the negativity?

Why does everyone say that Intrax sucks? I just put them on last Thursday or so, and the car is fine. It is really low, and a bit of a harsh ride, but that's what I prefer. I haven't lowered the AGXs down from their highest setting yet, but I don't mind it. The only negative is when I'm going around a corner and hit a bump, there's a bit of a clunk. I'm not sure if that's the springs bottoming out or what.

Are they really as bad as people say? I've been in 3000GT/Stealths with them and they are great. I had Eibachs on my Stealth and those were nice, too.

Your car is going to be harder with a lower suspension. To be expected. So why all the complaints? It's a sports car, not a Cadillac :thumb:

Thats your struts bottoming out, they will blow out very quickly if you keep this up. This is why people don't like Intrax on DSM's. I've had them on two other cars and was very happy with them, but on a DSM they are way to low. Our cars do not like being lowered very far. Not enough suspension travel.

Mike, thanks for that confirmation. I suppose that I might be looking for some other springs soon then. I was unaware and had heard good things about them on other cars. Good thing that they're easy to swap out.

They did look very short compared to stock springs...

Any other opinions on them?

I've had no problems with the Intrax springs on my car (Pa roads suck too). But i guess I'm one of the few and didn't realize that people don't like them. But I only did it because I was on a college budget. I'll be shopping for coil-over's soon.

intrax springs drop our cars a little to low... that noise you said as mentioned above is your struts bottoming out.. NOT GOOD..

These cars handling is affected negatively when lowered.. if your going for looks then great.. but performance through your stockers on the agx's :thumb:

Not nessacerily. On 1G's you need to cut the bump stops out when lowering it, otherwise it will bottom out on those.

My buddy had the Stortline/KYB combo on his 1G and he always thought the shocks were bottoming out too. You just need to cut the bump stops out and there will be no more bottoming out.

I agree. My car has the AGX/Intrax combo and I bought new bumpstops and cut them and it rides pretty decent for a lowered 1g.

Spartan302, how long have you had your setup on?

I cut the rear bump stops, but there were none on the front. I can't tell where the clunk is coming from, either front or rear. Sounds more like the front though.

I agree, they don't seem bad in a straight line or over roads that don't have big bumps. But those big bumps really make a loud clunk.

I cut my rear bumps, but there weren't any in the front.

And the car handles very well, IMO. It is hard and handles like it's on rails. Seems that the limiting factor now is my all season Continentials.

Ok, I've been looking around at different springs because these really are bad over big bumps. I will play it safe and get some higher ones.

Are the Sportlines as low as the Intrax? I've seen people wanting lower after getting the Pro-kit.

Or how about some AWD Tein S-Tech? Would these work on my FWD? Would the 1.5" drop be high enough?

If I can't find anything, I'll settle for the Pro-Kit. Had them before and they seem to work, but too bad they're not a little lower...

About 4 years. Its only bottomed out on big holes, ones that I would expect all to bottom out on.

I dont autox and I wanted it to be low, these handled better than stock so I'm happy. I can see that they sit lower than other springs. I only run 16's and it sits perfectly.

I have 16s also and it does sit perfect. I was wondering because I am curious on how long I might have to go til the struts could blow out. That helps me a bit. Now I guess I won't really rush, but have time to find something that I like.

My Intrax springs sagged. They are rated at what? 1 3/4" ? I measured mine and they dropped the car over 2.25". Too low in my opinion which is why they aren't on the car anymore. I had Konis with mine and didn't really have a bottoming out problem but then again our roads aren't too bad.
