Twitch, It wouldn't be too much more trouble or overly expensive to put the solenoid at the sprayer and switch to braided line.I previously thought it wouldn't be cost effective , but the more I look around I think you could still beat NX's price and make a reasonable profit.Give it a try you'll have a safer and better working product.Don't forget you live in the land of the lawsuit.

I probably wouldnt have had a problem with mine (and hence not returned it) if it came like that in the first place. Does anyone know the "lifespan" of a normal CO2 bottle also? I know what I've heard from twitch, but I want to see what other people say about it....

Brian

The life span of the co2 bottle depends on the type of bottle. It looks to me (from the pics on the IT website) that these are the same type of bottle I get welding gasses in. They are inspected regularly (by an authorized facility) and I have seen bottles over 40 years old.

The principal of expanding gasses says that the cooling potential is at its greatedt at the source of depressurization. The valve of the bottle if you crack it open or in this case at the solinoid. The line would contain some of the pressure during the transfer to the final depresurization at the spray ring. The holes in the ring act like restrictors and therfor give you a pressure drop and cooling effect.

The solinoid mounted at the intercooler would give it greater cooling ....how much.....I have no idea. Those physics are beyond my simple mind.

I'd buy one.

even today with the complaints mentioned in the thread you'd buy one? I'd like to know what you think cuz you sound like you know what your talking about.

I have to choose....NX N-ter cooler setup.... I invested alot money and labor into my car... can't be doing trails methods... I don't race so I don't need more HP... from talking to my fellow car builders... I needed a reliable setup... NX had everything I was looking for...

The tanks look like the normal paintball/fish tank/plant type bottles, I wouldn't doubt the quality of the tank.I'd bet the tank would last longer than you will ever use it.

Rookieupgrade1--why would you buy a unsafe, clearly inferior setup?

wouldnt it be cheaper in the end to just buy the IT advanced kit 250 and then just swap in ss braided lines or whatever than to buy the NX N-tercooler for 350.

Macro is the same type of line used to feed co2 from a remote tank to a paintball gun. That shit bursts all the time. but a paintball gun application is more abusive then a i/c sprayer.

Other then possibly receiving an out dated tank I see no reason not to get twitches system. On a side note you don't ever want to leave a co2 bottle in your car during the summer months with the windows up. bad bad idea.

^^ I love that pic^^

Anyhow....The tank i saw on twitches web site "appeared" to be the higher quality compressed gas cylinder found at your average welding supply store. (I have seen alot of them since I am a welder by trade) As for the macro hose....I never claimed to know anything about the quality of the line. However in Twitches deffence IF it is a poor line for the application then his solinoid valve on the cylinder is the best possible set up. It keeps the pressure at the cylinder where it belongs and not in the line. Provided the cylinder is as I suspect there is absolutely no reason for concern over haveing it in your car. Welding gas cylinders DO have built in blow off caps. It would take alot more that 150 degrees F (estamate in a hot car in WI summers) to blow the valve. If you have concerns about it anyhow, have it in a permanantly shaded area of your car.(don't have it in the sun) That makes a suprising differance in cylinder temp.

Yes I would buy one.

Taking into concideration that personally, I could build my own and if I could not then it would be a good buy.

Twitch....I (IMO) think you have a good deal there. Don't take the critisism to heart but as an oppertunity for your target market base to help you improve your product. (that appears to me would work fine as is) Most companies pay alot of money for the market research you just recieved for free.

Keep up the good ideas.:thumb:

i know this guy personally and am a firm believer in his product, he's a great honest guy that'll listen to any input you have! can't go wrong. keep up the good work man and my order will be in after the front mount gets here (tax time :) ):thumb:

BOTTOM line.
Sprayer mounted solenoid = BEST
Bottle mounted solenoid = NOT as GOOD(not completely bad)
Teflon braided line = SAFE and RELIABLE
Non Teflon braided line = UNSAFE and UNRELIABLE
Intercooler Techniques price = GOOD
NX price = NOT as GOOD
As usual you get what you pay for.

It is clear if IT makes their product as good, IT will have just about everyones business. As stated above ,product research is expensive, this thread offers plenty of FREE product research. As small business owner, I would love this kind of feedback/research on my products.

I agree with all but the teflon hose.

Teflon +cold=cracked line

(the shop next door does all the high pressure lines for the aircraft)

medium density rubber hose is the best for cold gas application. It is least suseptible to cold cracks. (you can get this in stainless steel braided too)

Thats what I would use.

I have been given some pieces of a nitrous system which include a steel braided feed line and a 10lb bottle... (feed line is new, bottle isn't, all came with the "NOS" brand setup) would the sprayer (along with some solenoids) work in conjunction with what I have to make a nitrous i/c sprayer?

Hi have an NX Ntercooler View:

2615cooler.jpg

Impressions: The kit is put together just as well as their nitrous kits which is really nice. Second, this kit could be turned into a regular nitrous kit with another solenoid and a nitrous jet and some lines down the road if you wanted to which is cool too. A lot of guys buy this because they can't spray nitrous, but end up being able to so this will same you money in the long run cause then you need about $150 in parts to finish it into a Stage 1 EFI kit...

I went to the track and have used it with CO2 and N2O. I didn't notice a difference between the two except CO2 is cheaper and easier to get depending on if your local paintball place will fill you or not.

I have yet to notice a difference with it however. I guess the days I was using it it was not hot enough outside to make any difference. My intercooler is alwasy freezing cold without the ntercooler that it just hasn't made any difference for me yet. I guess on a 100+deg day at the track I could net some gains but I have yet to try it there.

On a basic 75-80deg day at the track with part clouds there was no difference between runs with and without it. I'm gonna need some Texas weather I guess to check it out...

Jim...looks awesome. As far as looks, the NX kit cleans up. The N-Tercooler just looks kick ass.

I dont see a feed hose for the sprayer though. Does it come from underneath the IC? I know you have the hold the sprayer on the IC with zip ties through the IC fins, but does the feed hose fit through the fins??? Ultimately, how easy is NX kit install???

Also, how does the NX kit activate? Is it a hobbs style boost switch like the IT kit? or is it just a manual missile-launcher-lookin' switch mounted somewhere in the "cockpit"??

Thanks,
Jake

im in the middle of installing mine now the braided line is about 2' shorter then what i expected.
