inspection up. wideband or o2?

won't you fail the emissions portion of the inspection for not having a cat? or do they not do that in NY? and i'd just go with the wideband if you've got the cash, it'll help a lot anyways...

and i'd get dsmlink before you get that fuel pump, your already pouring fuel into the motor with those injectors, wouldn't wanna push even more through it without a tune.

They don't sniff the tailpipe in NYS. So long as you can get rid of the cel, the car will pass. I personally run a a cat-look alike and have the rear o2 sensor wires loomed into the car for the effect. Otherwise, I built the o2 simulator you can find plans for on here and pass with flying colors.

As for the question, I'm not sure what either having a wideband or replacing the stock sensor has to do with your inspection being up unless you're asking if you can replace the front with a wideband. Frankly, no. You can't set up narrowband simulation without link or flash. If you knew anything about setting these cars up, you wouldn't be running anything other than stock injectors without a tuning solution to compensate for them.

Having used ecuflash and evoscan myself, link is hands down more user friendly. I will be switching over next summer. My opinion of course, but a system created from the ground up to work with DSMs only (not counting the guys swapping into evos etc) is much easier to work with than a more broadly ranging program. Ceddy did do a great job however.

no i just have a dummy o2 plugging the hole with no wires, still throws a code. and down the road i plan on tuning myself, would dsmlink be the thing to get. i understand cars, turbos, fuel, engine etc good but tuning for me is a new world

dsmlink will get rid of the code, a wideband while being very useful to have will not get rid of the code so you can pass inspection. You will eventually need both f them to tune your car.
