Just need some opinions/answers.

I have my 6 bolt engine sitting in my backyard and it is covered with a few trash bags and some tires. I went to check up on it and I noticed the bags were leaned over to the side...as if someone was taking a peak to see what was under the bags (maybe it was cats, the wind...IDK). The problem now is that rain water has settled in various spaces on the inatke manifold and has sorrounded the injector holes OMG . The black grommets are still in place, but the injectors were taken out a while ago. How much damage has my negligence just caused me? Keep in mind, the holes are NOT flooded, but I'm sure a few drips got down in there. The motor sits outside and is exposed to all the changes in weather.:toobad:

A friend of mine recommended I pour a drip of tranmission fluid down into the holes while the motor sits to prevent rusting. What do you guys think about this advice?

I have since covered up everything properly...plugged holes etc.

I guess if a bit of water did get in...it will eventually dry out. I don't think much got in there. Does anyone second the WD40 recommendation to prevent the rusting?

Even a slight amount of moisture in the air can cause the cylinders to rust. So if water has been leaking into your engine then chances are it's going to have rust on the cylinders. If it was my engine I would find a dry place to store it. Then take all the spark plugs out and look down the cylinders to see if there was any rust. If it's rusted then I would tear the engine down and fix it.

I am more concerned about what damagae the drips of water can do, not so much the rusting. I was concerned when I saw how much water could have gotten down those holes. It won't be sitting for too much longer. But this rusting issue isnt something I want to overlook. Thanks for the info.

As far as storing the engine...my mechanic is relocating and the engine was brought back to my house until he finds a new shop.

RamenPride, I never heard of fogging oil. But I'll look into it.
