I am about to get my 2.2 stroker and built head. I am going to go megasquirt but for the time being I have these 450cc injectors from my old 90 turbo laser. I am getting a wideband and I am going to be going sort of a crude way of tuning until I get megasquirt and I want to know what you guys think.

Right now while I'm breaking everything in I just plan on putting the 450s in. What I wanted to know is that is there a way to lower the fuel pressure enough to where it will still idle fine with the larger injectors. I have the 12:1 fuel pressure riser that came with my hahn kit which is what I will be using for the crude tuning for now. Should I just eliminate my stock fpr on the rail and use the hahn one only in order to drop the pressure?

I don't even know if any of this will work but I figured I'd try and ask. I just don't want lack of fuel to be an issue with my new motor since I spent so much on it.

Also, is there a kevlar timing belt available for the 420A because I'm having a hard time finding one.

If the fmu is adjustable you can use it, if not you need to get a vortech sfmu which you are sapose to be able to adjust. Hope this helps

S-FMU for fuel control with larger injectors.

There are no kevlar timing belts for the 420a that I am aware of.

Well I have the early fuel system with the regulator on the rail. Should I take that one off and block it off because otherwise can't I only go as low a pressure as that will let me?

Also, this is the SFMU I'm using. I'm pretty sure it's the right one.

ok well this is my setup:

-6ss hose through out
CPR fuel filter
obx 8:1
aeromotive FPR 1:1
450cc Accel injectors, 420a style
apexi neo
Synapse missing link
FCD box from CImotorsports

at about 25-35 psi fuel pressure with help of adjustments from the NEO

Nice.

I found the 450's I had laying around from one of my old lasers and I got them in the rail and intake manifold using the 420A o rings. Hopefully that setup will work and won't leak. I do have a question about a resistor box though. My questions are could I use one off a turbo dsm and where does it get wired in?

If they are 4g63 injectors yes you need a resistor box and yes you can use one from a dsm. Theres probably a post on here somewhere about how to wire it up but i do know that there is one on 2gnt

Wow, that's a highly engineered fuel system. I must say, though, for the price of both an OBX FMU and Aeromotive AFPR, you must be approaching the cost of an S-FMU... why not just go that route? After all, you are essentially reproducing the functionality of an S-FMU.

Also, why not ditch the ML? The FCD's that CI sells are quality... there's no need for redundancy.

Oh, and while we have a "no street racing" rule, we also have an unwritten "no displays of wanton disregard for traffic laws and others' lives" rule as well. Please keep videos like the one you posted to yourself.

you know what ####ing blow me! yeh i changed a few things on my fuel setup, and payed a hell of a lot less than you did and guess what i dont need the mega squirt or any of that shit, the car runs beautiful no thanks to you. And yeh my video is on my street on my own terms so just ignore it, i have agreements with all my neighbors. So when you hear of a dead body b/c of me then you can ####in argue. In the mean time piss off you angry little man! LOL. And while your one rule is unwritten?!..... Well why dont you ####in write it then! Go ahead delete me, ive gotten better advise from dead dogs. No point in talking to you or anything, all your good for is bashing the people who know less than you just to make yourself feel better. But hey i guess that what little penis's do....

Someone's a little grumpy, eh? I was praising your ingenuity; I thought the system you came up with was rather creative. Then I simply asked why you chose to take this path over the S-FMU. My only criticism was about posting you doing dangerous things on public roads. ...sounds reasonable to me -- are you just having a bad day?

While I am not a fan of some people on here paul isn't one of the bad ones. I think this site is naieve about street racing thing. If everyone on here stopped driving fast on the street all together and were roll model citizens everyone else would still view us as street racers just like you see a guy in a ferrari and assume he's rich when maybe he's got all his money in a car and he lives out it or it's stolen. Fact of the matter is either way while you threw that LOL in there I can't tell if your kidding od not but no need to flip out even if you don't like paul. He was really only trying to help not bash.

I understand you frustration. I was dogged pretty hard on streetcarforums.com becuase I am using a SFMU instead of a Port fueler. It sucks when somone gives you scrutiny before advice. It sometimes is not even intentional when they do it too. When somone asks me " yeah well why didnt you just buy this other thing instead and it would be better" i get pretty cranky too. The answer to the question they probably already know though. You bought it because it works and you didn't buy the other thing because it did not cross your mind. No harm done. I am using a Bell Engeneering adjustable FMU from 20 - 120 psi. Is your setup throwing a engine light? mine did the first day and took me a month to get rid of it. The boost split a vacuum hose than had dry rotted coming off the throttle body.

See I have an FMU too. I purchased new 270cc injectors to install to run 10 psi boost, but I have not had time to install them. I am at 7 psi right now :D

Again, I think you're mistaking my intent. I never said an S-FMU would be better and I never scrutinized his choice, I was just curious to why he went with one solution over another. Is this setup a lot cheaper than an S-FMU? I think it's rather creative and it might be a cheaper way to achieve more control over fuel than anything else. It would be a great intermediate step for those looking for a cheap but effective mechanical tuning solution.

I never had one check engine light while I was running the hahn kit last summer. Didn't even have a FCD or missing link but that's most likely because I have a 95 with half ass OBDII.

hey guys, i have a Vortech SFMU and i dont have any clue how to adjust it. i know it has the boost and vacume on it but witch do i turn in or out to lower it. i took it off so i can put on this fpr in its place so i can see what my psi was at, and it said 105psi. that sound really really high to me. i just dont know how to lower it with the sfmu. can anyone help me..
