Ok i am a newbie and i became a dsmer when i luckily got a clean 35000 mile 95 gsx , well except the spiders and spider webs( i'm a B when it comes to spiders), SOB's wouldn't die i'll wake up in the morning after a killing and cleaning spree and what do i find EVEN MORE SPIDER WEBS like the bastards where effing with me. Anyway back to the point, now back when i used to think all eclipse where sohc 50whp cars:notgood: i used to see that hood pimple/boil/tumor/deformatity/shiner when people drove by. Guys i love my car but what is up with the BUMP, What does it do, why is it there. I mean its point blank ugly it puts 10 seconds more to my car wash and 20 seconds to drying it with my chamois.

P.S please don't hate me, we're still cool right:cool:

LOL LOL ROFL well i feel like a dumb ass, its ugly anyway:barf: . if thats the case how come CF hoods don't have it.

Point blank ugly? wow, what a statement. Do we forsee you putting on a combat body kit with altezza tails soon?

Yes the bump is for the timing belt cover, BUT I have seen 2g turbos switch their hoods to EVO style, or others that are flat in that area and close just fine, but who knows.

Red T your ride is hot, but correct me if i'm wrong doesn't the N/A have the same hood tumor but its engine faces the other way hhmmmmm.

I dig the hump, it's totally unique, I would never change my hood from oem style, if I ever did decide to get a carbon fiber one..

I had never thought about the cam gear. Chrysler cars came with them before DSM's and the (SOHC) cam gear is on the passenger side

I had heard that that hump helps the air accelerate/decelerate while it's going through the engine bay to help keep underhood temps down. It's also probably totally for looks, because the cam gears are not the highest thing in the engine bay on either car :D
